Zusammenfassung

The City of Port Colborne invites applications for an Environmental Analyst to conduct technical research, maintain databases, track regulatory changes and prepare reports. You will support water quality monitoring, DWQMS, stormwater programs, energy management, and climate initiatives while coordinating inspections and staff training.

The role requires an undergraduate degree or related certificate, relevant experience, a valid G driver’s license, strong written skills, and proficiency in data

Aufgaben

  • Maintains compliance tracking systems, prepares data for annual and regulatory reports.

  • Coordinates inspections and maintains records and documentation for water and wastewater operations.
  • Serves as Quality Management System (QMS) Representative and DWQMS program lead.
  • Oversees management reviews, risk assessments, audits, and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Updates procedures and plans and prepares performance indicator data.
  • Works on stormwater and energy management reporting and data analysis.
  • Supports grant applications and staff training.

The City of Port Colborne, located on the south coast of the scenic Niagara region, Niagara’s Port of Call has found the perfect balance – successful industrial and commercial sectors, comfortable and scenic residential areas, white sand beaches, unique culinary choices, the world class Sugarloaf Marina, fishing, golfing, trails, shopping districts along the historic Welland Canal – truly a community that adds to the overall Niagara Experience.

Reporting to the Environmental Compliance Supervisor, the Environmental Analyst conducts technical research and analysis, maintains databases and records, prepares reports and correspondence, tracks regulatory changes, supports investigations, develops metrics and dashboards, coordinates administrative requirements, and implements programs and initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintains compliance tracking systems, prepares data for annual and regulatory reports.
  • Monitors water quality lab sample data, adverse water incidents, and tracks corrective actions.
  • Analyzes compliance trend data such as chlorine residuals, pressure monitoring, turbidity and other water distribution system parameters.
  • Coordinates inspections, maintains records such as daily logs, equipment testing and records, adverse water samples, watermain commissioning documentation, and all water sample results.
  • Serves as Quality Management System (QMS) Representative.
  • Coordinates document control. Serves as management representative or program lead for the Drinking Water Quality Management Standard (DWQMS).
  • Oversees management reviews, operational plans, risk assessments, internal and external audit programs, and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Updates procedures and plans.
  • Prepares data for performance indicators reporting. Administers DWQMS records and documentation. Coordinates training for water operators and assists with licence upgrading/maintenance.
  • Works on continual improvement of the system, as required by the Province.
  • Monitors wastewater compliance requirements. Prepares data for annual reports, tracks sampling and monitoring programs (overflows and bypass events), maintains records, and analyzes compliance data and trends.
  • Maintains stormwater inventories. Tracks monitoring requirements, prepares reporting and mapping, manages data collection and analysis, and assists with implementation of stormwater compliance programs.
  • Collects and analyzes utility data, tracks energy consumption. Identifies trends and savings opportunities. Assists in reporting. Administers energy management databases and programs.
  • Conducts climate risk analyses, emissions tracking, performance monitoring, benchmarking. Supports implementation of corporate climate action plan.
  • Maintains environmental compliance inventories and records.
  • Conducts research, supports investigations, and assists with compliance.
  • Performs water loss calculations, analyzes flow monitoring and meter data, tracks performance indicators and project outcomes.
  • Supports grant applications.
  • Acts as the staff liaison for the City’s Environmental Advisory Committee. Coordinate meetings, take minutes, coordinate staff updates, etc. Hosts public events, such as the rain barrel sale and tree giveaway.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or post graduate certificate in environmental science, engineering, geoscience or related discipline.

  • CET, C. Tech or A. SC.T. designation.

  • Minimum 2 years related experience, preferably in water and wastewater utility operations or municipal experience.

  • Valid class "G" driver’s license.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

This is a full-time, unionized position working 35 hours per week. The rate is $40.94 per hour, and comes with a comprehensive compensation package including benefits and OMERS Pension Plan.
