Qualifikationen

• Ausgeprägte Erfahrung in Softwareentwicklung und -architektur.
• Fundierte Java-Entwicklung, ideal mit Spring Boot und Java-Bibliotheken.
• Schnelle Einarbeitung in komplexe Codebasen und architektonische Entscheidungen.
• Umfassendes Verständnis von Softwarearchitektur, Mustern, Clean Code.
• Strategische Denkweise zur Weiterentwicklung bestehender Systeme.
• Analytischer Ansatz zur Optimierung bestehender Systeme bei Fokus auf Stabilität.
• Fundierte Kenntnisse in Datenbanken, APIs und SDLC.

The role

• You provide both disciplinary and technical leadership to our Software Engineers. You work closely with several cross-functional teams and support their personal and professional development.
• You ensure that our engineering activities are aligned with Xempus’s company vision and strategic product goals.
• You own technical initiatives from initial concept through to production, including technical planning, architecture, quality assurance, and ongoing development.
• Together with the Product Owners, you prioritise technical topics in the product backlog and create transparency around dependencies, risks, and necessary investments.
• You make well-informed technical decisions, review proposed solutions, and ensure compliance with engineering standards, best practices, and quality requirements.
• You work closely with Product, Operations, customer-facing teams, and other stakeholders to connect technical opportunities with business requirements.
• You continuously develop our engineering processes, knowledge management practices, and standards.
• You support the long-term development and modernisation of our platform, with a focus on stability, performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• You accompany projects and products through to production and, together with the teams, ensure reliable day-to-day operations.

What we are looking for

• You have extensive experience in software development and software architecture and can explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
• You have substantial experience developing with Java, ideally with in-depth expertise in the Spring Framework, particularly Spring Boot, as well as common Java libraries and standards.
• You can quickly familiarise yourself with large, complex codebases, identify overarching relationships, and derive well-founded architectural decisions from them.
• You have an excellent understanding of software architecture, design patterns, clean code, and modern engineering principles.
• You think strategically and can develop and implement long-term plans for the continued development, modernisation, and incremental improvement of established systems.
• You enjoy analysing, refactoring, and sustainably improving existing systems while keeping stability and performance in focus.
• You have a solid understanding of databases, APIs, and the entire software development lifecycle — from technical conception and implementation through to operations.
• You have experience in both technical and disciplinary leadership, as well as in coaching and developing Software Engineers.
• You can structure and prioritise technical projects and successfully deliver them in collaboration with various stakeholders.
• You actively drive the use of AI — from AI-assisted software development and automated quality assurance to optimising our development processes.
• You communicate confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders and operate effectively across Engineering, Product, Management, and external partners.
• You enjoy working in an agile environment, respond constructively to change, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes.
• Experience with JavaScript frontend frameworks such as Vue.js or React is a plus.
• You combine strong technical expertise with a good understanding of business contexts and entrepreneurial priorities.
• You are fluent in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in German is a plus.
