Job Description

Please note: While the role is remote, candidates must be located in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan to be considered.

To join our team as an Energy Engineer III! Support the development and delivery of energy efficiency programs by providing engineering calculations, building energy simulations, measurement and verification, and utility program technical design and assistance. Leads design and development of technical strategies, conducts analysis to inform and recommend energy savings, and develops plans and provides reporting that contributes to the success of client programs. Writes and informs technical documents, publications, and conducts quality review of content. Provides general project oversight, quality control/assurance, and continuously informs customers and project team of updates and necessary adjustments. Supports business development efforts and proactively seeks new project opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Calculate energy savings for projects in our programs using standard engineering principles including physics, mechanics, fan laws, thermodynamics, algebra, and statistics
  • Key responsibilities of ‘Energy Engineer II’ and
  • Lead important and complex technical work in our programs, independently and with minimal technical supervision. Examples include
  • Identify, lead, and qualify custom/M&V projects in our programs (beyond deemed savings)
  • Oversee the development of calculators and measure configurations within central database
  • Perform ASHRAE level II audits unassisted at large commercial and industrial facilities; author IPMVP compliant plans and reports
  • Established and trusted technical advisor to multiple large-scale programs
  • Provide technical guidance and training to our program teams related to subject matter expertise (esp. custom/M&V projects)
  • Subject matter expert in at least two significant technical areas
  • Author work papers for new energy efficiency measures, with technical oversight
  • Oversee technical feedback related to filings, utility commission documents, and program evaluations; provide formal recommendations to program staff
  • Develop project scopes, with oversight from engineering management
  • Work with clients and evaluators on project-specific issues
Key Qualifications
  • 5-10+ years experience
  • BS Engineering degree
  • PE preferred
Compensation

$85,000 - 95,000

Additional Information

This is a safety-sensitive position and may include field work (such as work in industrial/commercial locations and customer homes), warehouse work, or requires driving on behalf of the company. Individuals provided a conditional offer of employment for this position must successfully pass apost-offer, pre-employment drug test and consent to the company obtaining a motor vehicle report evidencing a satisfactory driving record. Applicants for driving positions must hold a valid driver’s license, and individuals provided a conditional offer of employment must successfully pass a drug test and maintain a clean driving record as an ongoing requirement for continued employment.
