GitLab is seeking a senior engineering leader to own the Cells and Organizations roadmap, provisioning, lifecycle, routing, topology, and data migration tooling. This role partners with product and platform teams to scale a horizontally scalable architecture while maintaining security and data residency controls.

You will execute cohort migrations of customer Organizations onto cells with zero data loss, verified rollback, and no downtime, and you will build and run the engineering organization

• GitLab.com is being rebuilt as a horizontally scalable cluster using Organizations and Cells to enable a 100x increase in headroom without customers ever seeing a cell.
• This charter turns data residency, regional control, and in-region AI compute into product capabilities rather than deployment exceptions.

What you will do:

• Availability and latency improvements attributable to isolation and load distribution.
• Infrastructure cost per unit of capacity trending down as the footprint grows.
