Every day, our teams harness cutting‑edge AI and breakthrough technologies to collaborate with clients, driving transformative solutions that redefine industries and uplift communities worldwide.

We are seeking a new member for the role of Director, Fund/Client Accounting Manager to join our German Fund Administration Team in Frankfurt. As we expand our German capabilities, we are seeking a Director to lead our fund accounting teams across German Special Funds and Retail Funds, and to oversee IFRS accounting and reporting (including Pillar II) for a new client. This senior leader will shape the operating model, deliver client‑grade outcomes, and build a high‑performing culture aligned with BNY’s principles—Be Client Obsessed, Spark Progress, Own It, Stay Curious, and Thrive Together.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the BNY Fund Accounting Operations organization for BNY strategically significant client: Provide strategic and day‑to‑day leadership to high‑performing teams responsible for NAV production, pricing, controls, and client deliverables for a major global client.
  • Act as EMEA Fund Accounting Operations owner for single client: Build strong relationships with senior client stakeholders, influence decision‑making, and ensure delivery of a consistently excellent service experience.
  • Exceptional client‑facing capability: Demonstrated success influencing senior client stakeholders, managing complex discussions, and navigating competing priorities.
  • Serve as senior escalation point for complex issues: Provide direction on break resolution, valuation challenges, and client‑impacting incidents, ensuring timely and transparent communication.
  • Develop and execute the functional strategy for German fund accounting (Retail & Special Funds) and IFRS accounting/reporting; set goals, KPIs/SLAs, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Own end‑to‑end daily NAV production and release; govern price validation, exception management, depositary confirmations, and distribution windows (T/T+1).
  • Oversee Transfer Agency integration: cap‑stock pre‑advices, TA to FA interfaces (SFTP/API), cut‑offs, and unit reconciliations; enforce zero‑NAV safeguards for full share‑class redemptions.
  • Manage German market specifics: swing pricing thresholds/factors, stressed regimes, redemption fees/gates, notice periods, share‑class divergence controls.
  • Lead IFRS accounting specific processes for daily, monthly and annual processes while ensuring timely receipt, processing, and system integration of data.
  • Promote connectivity and automation with external managers/custodians; reduce manual channels; monitor transmission quality and completeness.
  • Own financial and human resource planning: workforce sizing, talent acquisition, skilling plans, succession, and budget management.
  • Sponsor continuous improvement: automation, data quality, controls uplift, and incident prevention; lead post‑cycle reviews and remediation roadmaps.
  • Control‑focused mindset with strong analytical capability: Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and implement sustainable solutions in a risk‑sensitive environment.
  • Self‑starter with strong ownership mentality: Able to operate independently while knowing when to elevate or collaborate.
  • Foster a culture consistent with BNY principles; mentor leaders (SVP/VP) and teams; drive inclusion, engagement, and performance.
  • Champion automation and digital transformation: Promote adoption of digital tools, data‑driven solutions and AI‑enabled capabilities to reduce manual touchpoints and enhance operational resilience.
  • Lead a proactive control framework with daily oversight checks, aging/materiality‑based escalations, incident management, and monthly KPI packs.
  • Oversee change/events: mergers, liquidations, master‑feeder flows, in‑specie transfers, write‑offs, intercompany activity; ensure post‑event reconciliations.
  • Lead onboarding, conversions, and product launch activity: Lead operating model design and cutover governance from SLD to BAU for German Retail and Special Funds, and IFRS; ensure readiness sign‑offs and clean hand‑offs. Oversee operational readiness for new funds, complex product structures, and client‑driven change initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; professional qualifications a plus.
  • 10–15 years of total experience with 5–7 years in management leading fund accounting and/or IFRS reporting teams.
  • Deep expertise in German Retail Funds (UCITS/KAGB/KARBV) and Special Funds (InvStG/Chapter 2/3) operating models and controls.
  • Strong IFRS technical knowledge (IFRS 9/7/13) and Pillar II reporting exposure; experience aligning IFRS and HGB.
  • Fluency in German and English; excellent stakeholder engagement with depositaries, auditors, and regulators.
  • Hands‑on with reconciliation tooling, data interfaces (SFTP/API), WM Daten, pricing vendors, and incident management.
