Zusammenfassung

Rolls-Royce plc in Germany is seeking a design engineer to deliver design solutions for components and complex assemblies within a high‑pace, safety‑driven environment. You will ensure alignment with manufacturing capabilities and quality processes while contributing to model-based definition approaches.

Qualifikationen

  • Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace or equivalent.
  • Strong problem understanding and innovative problem solving.
  • Analytical skills with data evaluation and basic statistics.
  • Knowledge of aero engine design processes and spec systems.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing design principles is a plus.
  • Proficient in English; German language skills are an asset.

Aufgaben

  • Deliver design solutions for components and assemblies with safety and manufacturing in mind.
  • Evaluate how current products operate in service to improve reliability.
  • Provide definitions to stakeholders per policies through MBDefinition approaches.
  • Develop tools, standards and best-practice guidance for subsystems.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to XFMEA and risk processes.
  • Ensure designs meet quality systems and project priorities in an agile setup.
  • Perform analyses using calculations or workflows for part dimensions and balance.
  • Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver prioritized work.

What you will be doing:
  • Deliver design solutions for component(s) and complex assemblies in consideration of safety, manufacturing capability, product physical and functional robustness.
  • Evaluate how current products operate in service to improve their reliability.
  • Deliver definitions to appropriate stakeholder groups’ requirements (e.g. manufacturing (domestic/external), project customers, analysis team etc.) in accordance with associated agreed policies via conventional and future state approaches (Model Based Definition in association with the Model Based Environment).
  • Develop tool sets, methods, standards, best practice guidance for sub-systems and components.
  • Capture lessons learnt.
  • Contribute to product safety through XFMEA and risk processes.
  • Ensure design solutions adhere to quality systems.
  • Carry out analyses using formula-based calculations and/or automated workflows for dimensioning of parts and components (e.g. stability, stiffness, profiles, balance point, weights) and where appropriate, using analytical rules, tools and methods to underwrite the design solution against requirements.
  • Ensure delivery of work in line with priorities, manage work through an agile management framework, and contribute to planning within a multi-disciplinary team.
Who we are looking for:
  • Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace or equivalent.
  • Experience of problem understanding, innovative problem solving, and definition of effective solutions with the ability to deal with an ambiguous and high-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data evaluation and statistical tools.
  • Good knowledge of aero engine design processes and specification system with core engine and relevant production knowledge being appreciated.
  • Familiarization with additive manufacturing design principles can be beneficial.
  • Good English written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of German is an asset.
