Role overview

A Data Science Manager is needed to lead a team focused on financial crime within a digital banking environment. The position offers the chance to shape data strategy for a key product area and develop a team of data scientists and analysts in a fast-scaling, data-driven organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of data scientists and analysts working alongside analytics engineers to combat financial crime.
• Champion the use of data across product development, bringing ideas to life through rigorous analytical approaches.
• Generate insights that inform and shift the direction of financial crime strategy, including emerging threats and regulatory requirements.
• Bring data leadership and rigor to product development, structuring complex projects and translating strategy into execution.
• Liaise with risk, product, and engineering managers to ensure the right data is captured to produce relevant business insights.
• Hire, develop, and retain top data talent while fostering a culture of data-driven decision making.

Requirements

• At least four years of experience as a Data Science Manager, with at least two of those years managing a data team of more than four people.
• Strong strategic data leadership skills with a track record of driving decisions at executive or C-level.
• Experience managing stakeholders across multiple levels of seniority and disciplines.
• Familiarity with a variety of data science tools spanning business intelligence, experimentation, causal inference, and machine learning.
• Strong coding skills in Python and SQL, with the judgment to pick the right tool for each problem and help others do the same.
• Excitement about working autonomously to shape the future of a fast-growing business.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial crime, fraud detection, or adjacent areas such as trust and safety, integrity, or security.
