Google is seeking a Facilities Technician for its data centers to design, operate, and maintain advanced electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. You will monitor, inspect, and repair critical infrastructure, ensuring reliability and efficiency across facilities worldwide.

In this role, you will lead maintenance tasks, collaborate with contractors and internal teams, and respond to incidents with a focus on safety, cost reduction, and environmental standards.

Minimum qualifications:

• Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of Electrical or Mechanical experience (e.g., electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution or HVAC or Air handling Units) in an industrial or commercial environment.
• Experience working on projects in a data center environment, and working with various stakeholders to achieve common goals.
• Experience in Electrical or Mechanical maintenance and operations of a data center.

Preferred qualifications:

• 7 years of experience in maintenance of mechanical/cooling distribution systems or electrical distribution systems or construction/technical environments or a related field.
• 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of electrical engineering as a Responsible Qualified Electrician (VEFK) in accordance with DIN VDE 1000-10.
• Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems.

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Some of these duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components).

As an advocate for best practices, you develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most efficient electrical and HVAC systems using less energy than most data centers around the world. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Germany: €98000 - €100000 (EUR) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:

• Inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems.
• Provide effective leadership for successful critical system troubleshooting, unit commissioning, repairs/replacements with little to no supervision in quality, quantity and timeliness as assigned.
• Operate critical plant equipment as authorized by facilities manager.
• Provide coordination/input for global facilities programs such as in electrical, CMMS, BMS, energy savings, training and thermography.
• Respond to critical data center events, alarms and be responsible for being a point of escalation on operational issues.
