Fastned is seeking an Interim Country Director for Germany, based in Cologne, to accelerate deployment and drive operational and commercial excellence. The role reports to the COO and requires presence on site at least 3 days per week, with a start date asap and a contract through December 2027.

You will lead cross-functional teams, drive strategic planning, partnerships, and safe, scalable growth in the German EV charging market while representing Fastned externally.

As our Interim Country Director, you will help accelerate the growth of the German market with our ambition to become a leading player in the EV transition. You will be instrumental in executing Fastned’s strategic vision, driving operational excellence, and nurturing a high-performing local team. This high-impact leadership role offers a unique opportunity to shape our commercial success and leave a lasting mark on the future of electric mobility.

This interim role is set to start as soon as possible and will finish at the end of December 2027. Our German office is located in Cologne, you are expected to be present on location at least 3 days per week. In this role you will report directly to our COO.

What you will be doing

Drive German Deployment and Operational Excellence

• Accelerate network deployment by proactively removing bottlenecks, ensuring rapid and strategic scaling across the market.
• Partner with the Country Execution Lead to drive cross-functional collaboration, ensuring our pipeline consistently delivers high-potential locations on schedule.
• Champion a world-class customer experience by collaborating with Local Operations to maintain pristine, high-uptime stations that exceed charging performance standards.
• Oversee day-to-day operations with a focus on agility, continuously refining workflows to maintain momentum and operational excellence.

Elevate Commercial Performance

• Collaborate with commercial teams to drive revenue, customer growth, brand visibility, and local marketing.
• Identify opportunities, partnerships, and strategic initiatives to maximize market share and profitability.
• Scale B2B and B2C offerings while optimizing pricing and business models.
• Keep a good eye on the costs & incoming revenue to ensure the financial health of your market.

Represent Fastned Germany internally and externally if needed

• Support the team in representing Fastned in the German EV ecosystem, incl. engaging with government bodies, stakeholders, and media to strengthen market position.
• Represent the German market in central decision-making, providing feedback on plans and ensuring alignment with company policies.
• Collaborate with legal teams to ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.

Shape your country strategy & execution

• Implement the German strategic plan, aligning with Fastned’s vision while adapting to local dynamics.
• Incorporate market trends, competitive shifts, and policy changes into strategic planning.
• Align the local team behind shared goals and continuously refine operational workflows.
• Manage long-term business plans and annual tactical execution across local teams.
• Partner with HR to recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing, mission-driven team.
• Lead local workforce planning, key role selection, onboarding, and leadership coaching.
• Cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ownership aligned with Fastned’s values.
• Facilitate seamless communication and alignment between local and global teams.

What you bring along

• Proven experience in comparable senior management roles within a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Strong commercial background and expertise across B2B and B2C markets.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire teams.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in both English and German.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for sustainability and the transition to electric mobility.
• If you know the industry or the challenges in infrastructure projects this is a clear plus
• You can work at least 3 days per week in our Cologne office, to create a strong connection to our local team
