Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee regional high-voltage grid expansion projects based out of Nuremberg, Germany. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the construction and execution of critical underground alternating current (HVAC) and high-voltage transmission cable projects (110 kV to 380 kV). Your work will directly support local grid operators in integrating renewable energy plants, expanding urban infrastructure, and powering industrial zones across northern Bavaria.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Operations & Execution: Manage daily construction and site activities for high-voltage underground cable routing, trenching, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), cable pulling, jointing, and testing.
- Grid Operator & Local Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary technical interface on-site for regional Transmission and Distribution System Operators (TSOs/DSOs), municipal authorities (Gemeinden), landowners, and local utility providers.
- HSE & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce rigorous health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards on site, ensuring full compliance with German safety regulations (e.g., DGUV) and local Bavarian environmental protection laws.
- Subcontractor & Resource Management: Coordinate civil and electrical subcontractors, equipment suppliers, and site personnel to ensure adherence to project timelines, milestones, and high-quality specifications.
- Quality Assurance & Documentation: Supervise quality control protocols, verify technical as-built documentation, and manage snagging lists prior to final grid handover.
- Progress & Cost Tracking: Monitor site budgets, track construction progress, and report directly to the Project Manager regarding schedule adjustments or site risks.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: Proven professional experience as a Site Manager, Construction Manager, or Project Engineer specifically within High-Voltage (HV) power infrastructure or underground cabling projects (110 kV up to 380 kV).
- Local Regulations: Familiarity with German construction law, utility permitting processes, and electrical grid safety standards. SiGeKo certification is considered a strong asset.
- Language Skills:
- Professional proficiency in German (B2/C1 level or higher) is essential for communicating with local authorities, landowners, and regional subcontractors.
- Strong working knowledge of English.
