Zusammenfassung

Elsevier's Reaxys team in Frankfurt seeks a Business Intelligence Expert for Chemistry Solutions. You will manage large chemistry-related data, optimize storage and data structures, and deliver performant data access for scientists and researchers.

The role requires expert data engineering/BI experience, strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL/Oracle), and scripting with Bash/Perl/Python. Collaboration across global teams and agile ceremonies are part of the daily work.

Qualifikationen

  • Expert (5 years) as a Data Engineer or Business Intelligence Expert.
  • Strong experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL or Oracle.
  • Bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in computer science or life sciences with IT background.

Aufgaben

  • Understand, design and maintain different data structures and data, and optimize storage, structures, schemas, views and procedures.
  • Transform data structures for different representations and implementations.
  • Optimize databases, indexes, views, queries; implement extensions and stored procedures for fast retrieval.
  • Be an active member of the agile team, contributing to ceremonies and decisions.
  • Work closely with developers, product owners and stakeholders to ensure timely deliveries.

You are experienced in handling large amounts of data, managing underlying data structures and databases, and making this data accessible to various stake holders for high demand use cases? About the Team

The Reaxys team is searching for a self-driven and motivated data enthusiast with a passion for managing multiple constantly evolving data structures, performance optimization of underlying databases and data storages, and making the data accessible to various stake holders in a highly performant way. The focus is on taking a holistic perspective on our chemistry data to provide an (almost) real-time experience to our customers, even for complex use cases on continuously growing large datasets. You will be part of an agile development team supporting and continuously improving the storage, organization, management and access of our chemical data to fulfil our customer’s needs, from databases, data structures, schemas, and views to sophisticated technologies to make all of this accessible and utilizable. You will be able to contribute and expand your expertise and skills in a variety of career paths at Elsevier.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Understand, design and maintain different data structures and the corresponding data, and constantly optimize and adapt the data storages, data structures, schemas, views, procedures, etc. to fulfil customer use cases.
  • Transform the data structures for different representations and implementations.
  • Optimize our databases, e.g., indexes, the data structure, views, and queries, and implement extensions, stored procedures for fast result retrieval even for complex use cases.
  • Be an active member of the agile team, contributing to ceremonies and team decision making.
  • Work closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to ensure timely deliveries.
You should bring:
  • Expert level experience in Data Engineering or Business Intelligence.
  • Strong background in relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL and/or Oracle, and their optimization.
  • Minimum medium level scripting experience in Bash, Perl, or Python.
  • Experience in version control tools, like Git.
  • Experience in AI supported development/working.Fluent English oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability and passion to work in a diverse team.
Education & Experience:
  • Expert (5 years) as a Data Engineer or Business Intelligence Expert.
  • Strong experience with relational databases, like PostgreSQL or Oracle.
  • A bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in computer science, or life sciences with a strong background in IT.
The following skills will be a bonus:
  • Basic chemistry or life sciences knowledge.
  • Experience or training in AWS.
  • Experience or training in C/C++.
  • Experience or training in Linux.
  • Knowledge of Jenkins, JIRA, and Confluence.
