Terma Group seeks a Build and Deployment Engineer (Windows) to deliver software builds, packaging, deployments and patch management for EUMETSAT's Windows-based ground-segment systems within a standardised, automated workflow.

You will join the Build and Deployment Service Team within the CSM area at EUMETSAT, handling routine builds, packaging, deployments and coordination for projects while maintaining the platform tooling landscape.

Qualifikationen

We are looking for a Build and Deployment Engineer (Windows) to deliver software builds, packaging, deployments and patch management for EUMETSAT's Windows-based ground-segment systems within a standardised, automated delivery workflow.

Background

The Computer and Systems Management (CSM) competence area, part of the Infrastructures for IT and Data Division (I2D) at EUMETSAT, provides all levels of system and software builds and deployments for the operational ground-segment infrastructure, alongside computing platforms, data storage and distribution, network services and infrastructure security for multi-mission environments.

You will join the Build and Deployment Service Team within CSM, which covers routine builds, packaging and deployments, engineering and coordination for incoming projects, and the maintenance of the platform tooling landscape. Growing volumes of vendor deliveries have made standardised, automated and best-practice workflows central to the team's role.

You shall support

• Perform ticket-based software builds, packaging, deployments and activations on established Windows systems, triggered by the daily Configuration Review Board and service desk


• Maintain automated and unattended Windows installation mechanisms and centralised (offline) update and patch management using WSUS, Intune or equivalent


• Create and maintain build, packaging and deployment implementations for Windows software and data releases and patches, using Ansible and scripted automation


• Administer and troubleshoot Windows systems, including PowerShell automation, registry and Active Directory tasks


• Advise incoming projects and delivery partners on Windows build, packaging and versioning strategies, and assess formal delivery and acceptance-test documentation


• Resolve anomaly reports and provide user support, including account and service tool access issues

Skills and experiences

• Essential knowledge and experience in Windows system administration


• Advanced skills in using the Windows command line (PowerShell), registry and Active Directory


• Sound understanding of software configuration management principles and change management processes


• Automated and unattended OS installation mechanisms


• Centralised (offline) updates and patch management: WSUS, Intune or others


• Software provisioning, configuration management and deployment tooling: Ansible


• Software build environments and tools such as Ant, Maven, autoconf/automake and make


• Version control systems such as SVN, git and GitLab


• Software packaging formats such as MSI, NuGet and EXE


• Scripting languages, networking, distributed applications and TCP/IP services


• Administration and troubleshooting of distributed systems, and good experience in VMware virtualisation


• Good knowledge and experience in security: principles and concepts, hardening techniques, secure architecture and protocols, penetration and vulnerability testing and tools


• Experience in a large-scale operational or production environment characterised by custom applications in addition to standard software, running both client and server side, with high-availability (24x7) requirements


• High-level programming languages (C/C++, C#, Java), container technologies (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes), OpenText Dimensions CM, MySQL and Oracle databases, or network services (NIS, LDAP, NFS, DNS, SNMP, FTP, NTP) are considered an advantage


• University degree (Master's or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, or equivalent proven experience, with at least 5 years of relevant experience


• Strong technical documentation skills and effective written and verbal communication in English

Working Location

This is a full-time position, in Darmstadt, Germany starting from November 2026. Around 25% of the work is provided on-site at EUMETSAT's premises in Darmstadt. Occasional weekend, public-holiday or early-morning/late-night work may be required, always agreed in advance.
