Taktile is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to own data infrastructure powering our feature computation platform. You’ll build and operate Python services on AWS, tackle latency and scale, and own systems end-to-end from architecture to deployment.

You’ll collaborate with Product and Design, mentor teammates, and influence architectural decisions. This role supports hybrid work from Berlin, London, or Iași and includes equity and a strong compensation package.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Banks and fintechs use Taktile to automate critical decisions, like credit and risk, in real time. We're building the infrastructure that makes financial institutions truly AI-native, and the backend is where the hard problems live.

We're growing rapidly with enterprise customers across banking and insurance, and we're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join Team Atlas : a small, high-ownership team focused on the data infrastructure powering our feature computation platform.

You’ll own critical systems end-to-end, and your decisions will shape the product.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build and operate backend services in Python on AWS — Lambda functions, DynamoDB, Aurora, and event-driven pipelines that handle real production traffic. You’ll leverage agentic AI tools as part of your daily workflow.
• Tackle hard backend problems — latency, reliability, and scale are everyday concerns.
• Own your systems end-to-end: from architecture and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
• Make key architectural decisions — you'll have real authority over how things are built, not just what gets built.
• Raise the bar for the team through code reviews, mentoring, and improving our development tooling and processes.
• Work directly with Product and Design to shape what we build next.

REQUIREMENTS

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of leading complex projects in a senior capacity (2+ years).
• Deep expertise in Python and building backend systems on cloud platforms (we use AWS).
• Strong system design skills — you're comfortable making architectural trade-offs and defending them.
• Depth in at least one of these areas: data pipelines and storage, event-driven architectures, caching and performance, or serverless systems. You don't need all of them.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders on a shared vision.
• The ability to work in a hybrid model from our Berlin HQ, the London office, or the Iasi hub. Please note that relocation assistance is not provided for this role.

IDEAL, BUT NOT REQUIRED

• Apache Iceberg, AWS Athena, AWS Glue, or Apache Spark
• Streaming / real-time data pipelines (Kinesis)
• Multi-level caching strategies (Redis, DynamoDB, in-memory)
• Serverless at scale (Lambda, SAM, CloudFormation)
