konfetti is a Berlin-based booking platform for local workshops. We are hiring a backend engineer to own backend features end to end, shape our architecture, and integrate AI tooling across the stack. You will work in a small team with direct impact, ownership from day one, and an office-first culture in Berlin.

The role emphasizes production-ready software, collaboration, and thoughtful debugging to keep the platform robust as we scale.

konfetti is the booking platform and software for local workshops. Since our founding in April 2021, we have continuously developed our product and now work with more than 3,000 providers. In total, we offer over 13,000 experiences in Germany, Austria, and online.

Your next step konfetti!

We are looking for a backend engineer to help us build the next generation of the konfetti platform. Our ambitions for the product have grown, and so has what we need from our backend and architecture. This is a hands‑on role with real ownership of technical direction, not a ticket queue.

You will join a lean engineering team of four, working directly with our designer and product lead. Small team, short path from idea to production, and plenty of room to leave your mark.

Tasks

• You own backend features end to end, from initial analysis through deployment and monitoring, including our partner‑facing booking software (Backoffice)
• You shape our architecture: you identify what is holding the product back, propose a direction, and then build it
• You work across service boundaries, data models, queues, integrations, and performance, and you improve monitoring and address technical debt without being asked
• You use AI tooling as a core part of how you work, including on parts of the stack outside your specialization
• You think critically about requirements and identify edge cases early, drawing on your experience of what can go wrong in production
• You actively collaborate with our tight‑knit team of engineers, designer, and product lead in daily standups, planning, and technical discussions: asking questions when something is unclear, sharing blockers early, and contributing your perspective

Requirements

• Several years of production backend experience, ideally with PHP/Laravel, and a track record of systems you built that other people still run
• Strong opinions about architecture, backed by reasons and by having lived with the consequences of your past decisions
• Solid experience with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, EC2, ECS/Fargate, CloudFront, and Bedrock, and comfort owning what you ship in production
• Real fluency with AI‑assisted development. We use Claude Code day to day and can also offer Cursor. We want someone who already works this way and can push the rest of the team forward
• A maker mindset and a can‑do attitude: you would rather build the thing than write a document about building the thing
• The confidence to challenge how things are done today, the respect to understand why they were done that way first, and the honesty to say when you do not know something
