Jobtailor is seeking a backend engineer in Hamburg to design, build, and maintain scalable Python-based services. You will work with AWS services including EC2, DynamoDB and API Gateway, containerize applications with Docker, and contribute to robust testing and debugging processes.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of backend experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams. FastAPI experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Development and maintenance of backend components and systems using Python.
• Administration and maintenance of AWS infrastructure, including EC2 instances, API Gateway, VPC, S3, and DynamoDB.
• Containerization of applications with Docker and management of Docker environments.
• Testing and debugging to ensure high software quality and performance.
• Supporting troubleshooting efforts and providing technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
• At least 1–2 years of proven experience as a backend engineer or in a similar role, focusing on developing scalable web applications or platforms
• Strong knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Python, Shell, Terraform, or Flutter
• Proficient with AI application layers (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude-Code, Codex, Gemini-CLI)
• Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB
• Initial experience working with AWS services such as EC2, DynamoDB, and API Gateway
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and stacks
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a passion for technology
• Nice to have: Experience with containerization technologies, especially Docker
• Nice to have: FastAPI experience.
