trawa is building a modern Finance function in Germany and seeks an Accounting Lead who owns Q2C and close under HGB. You will redesign invoicing, AR, and revenue recognition, shape data across systems, and lead the first external audit with our auditors.

This role combines deep accounting expertise with automation and cross-functional collaboration, offering real ownership and a clear path to audit readiness in a fast-growing energy tech company.

Qualifikationen

• 6+ years of hands-on Accounting experience with a strong HGB foundation and ownership of the monthly and annual close, including audit experience.
• Proven track record of structurally redesigning Quote-to-Cash – including invoicing, AR, dunning, and revenue recognition – rather than simply running it.
• People leadership experience with full ownership: you've led at least two people and were responsible for hiring, performance, and development.
• A process design and automation mindset. You're openly opinionated about modern, lean tool stacks.
• Business-fluent English and German at B2+ level.

Aufgaben

• Take Q2C to the next level: own invoicing, AR, and dunning end to end. Redesign into scalable, partly automated processes with Business Ops, Sales, and Tech.
• Own Revenue Recognition across energy products, including PPA, spot, futures, and direct marketing. Write the policy and defend it with auditors.

• Own the monthly and annual close under HGB end to end. Set cadence, quality bar.
• Coordinate tax with external advisor, VAT, and internal controls.
• Redesign core Accounting processes with automation, and build audit-ready documentation.
• Define energy-specific accounting principles with external advisors.
• Lead our first full external audit as the single point of contact for auditors.
• Take full functional and disciplinary responsibility for your team, including hiring, performance management, coaching.
• Coach the team on structure, prioritization, and project delivery – cross-functional collaboration with Business Ops, Tech, Sales, Treasury/FP&A, tax advisors, and auditors.

trawa enables mid-sized companies to access green, intelligent energy. We're growing fast in a hypergrowth environment, operating in one of the most complex regulatory markets in Germany. Energy accounting is genuinely complex and exciting, from PPA and spot to futures and direct marketing.

We're looking for an Accounting Lead who takes real ownership of Accounting and Finance Operations, with a clear center of gravity in Quote-to-Cash: how customer contracts turn into invoices, receivables, and recognized revenue in an energy scale-up. Alongside taking our Accounting function to the next level under HGB, this is where you'll leave the biggest mark: turning Q2C from firefighting into a designed, scalable process.

What you'll own

Quote-to-Cash & Revenue Recognition

• Take Q2C to the next level: own invoicing, AR, and dunning end to end. Don't just run them – redesign them into scalable, partly automated processes together with Business Ops, Sales, and Tech.

• Own Revenue Recognition across our energy products, including PPA, spot, futures, and direct marketing. Write the policy, document it, and defend it with our auditor.

• Shape how billing-relevant customer and contract data is structured across systems.

Accounting

• Own the monthly and annual close under HGB end to end. Your team runs the execution; you set the standard, the cadence, and the quality bar.

• Own tax coordination with our external advisor, VAT, and internal controls.

• Redesign core Accounting processes with a clear focus on automation, and build the documentation that makes us audit-ready: process descriptions, close checklists, controls, and audit trails.

• Define energy-specific accounting principles together with external advisors.

• Lead our first full external audit as the single point of contact for our auditors.

Team leadership

• Take full functional and disciplinary responsibility for your team, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and development.

• Coach the team on structure, prioritization, and project delivery – not just technical accounting.

• Work cross-functionally with Business Ops, Tech, Sales, Treasury/FP&A, our external tax advisor, and auditors.

Your first 90 days

• Month 1 – Understand and shadow: Get deep into our business model, the complexity of the energy market, and our Accounting and Finance Operations landscape. Meet key stakeholders across the team, our tax advisor, Business Ops, and Tech. Shadow the recurring close, run by your team, and map the Q2C process end to end.

• Month 2 – Take first ownership: Take over Q2C as process owner, identify the highest-impact inefficiency in invoicing or AR, and deliver a first structural improvement. Start owning the close as team lead and document gaps in processes and controls.

• Month 3 – Own the roadmap: Own Accounting and Finance Operations end to end. Set the roadmap for audit readiness, documentation, internal controls, and the target data model together with Business Ops and Tech.

Who you are

Must-haves

• 6+ years of hands-on Accounting experience with a strong HGB foundation and ownership of the monthly and annual close, including audit experience.

• A proven track record of structurally redesigning Quote-to-Cash – including invoicing, AR, dunning, and revenue recognition – rather than simply running it. You've reshaped a Q2C process at least once and can walk us through what changed, why you changed it, and what the impact was.

• People leadership experience with full ownership: you've led at least two people and were responsible for hiring, performance, and development. You can point to how they grew under your leadership.

• A process design and automation mindset. You're openly opinionated about modern, lean tool stacks.

• Business-fluent English and German at B2+ level – enough to work with HGB, DATEV, tax advisors, and auditors.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the energy market, for example PPA, spot, futures, or direct marketing.

• Experience with ERP selection or rollout.

• Familiarity with IFRS.

• Hands-on experience with tools in our stack: DATEV, Moss, Airtable, n8n, and Langdock.
