Zusammenfassung

Strube D&S GmbH sucht am Standort Schlanstedt in Sachsen-Anhalt eine/n Junior Breeder Sugar Beet (m/w/d) zur Unterstützung bei der Entwicklung von Elite-Zuchtkomponenten. Sie arbeiten eng mit internationalen Standorten zusammen und sammeln Felddaten in europäischen Zuchtprogrammen.

Sie bringen einen MSc-Abschluss in Pflanzengenetik/ Pflanzenbau oder einem verwandten Feld mit und unterstützen Datenmanagement, Statistik sowie die Auswertung von Versuchsergebnissen.

Qualifikationen

• M.Sc. in Pflanzengenetik, Pflanzenbau oder einem verwandten Gebiet.
• Grundlegende Kenntnisse in Genetik und deren Anwendung in Zuchtprogrammen.
• Fundierte statistische Kenntnisse und Erfahrung im Umgang mit Datenbanken sowie MS Office.

Aufgaben

• Mitwirkung an der Entwicklung von Elite-Zuchtkomponenten.
• Sammeln von phänotypischen Daten auf Feldstandorten in Europa.
• Durchführung von Pflanzenauswahl im Feld mit saisonalem Fokus.
• Statistische Auswertung und Visualisierung von Daten.
• Unterstützung im Bereich Datenmanagement und Data Science.

Your Responsibilities

• Participation in the development of elite breeding components
• Collecting phenotypic data in the field at European sites
• Carrying out plant selection in the field with a seasonal focus
• Statistical evaluation and visualization of data
• Support in the field of data management and data sciences
• Close cooperation with employees at various global breeding sites to ensure the implementation of the defined activities
• Travel activity with up to 30% including longer stays in other European countries
• Supervision of internal research projects
• Participation in research projects in cooperation with various private and public organizations

Your Profile

• M.Sc. in plant breeding, plant genetics, plant sciences, or a related field
• Basic knowledge of plant genetics and its application in breeding programs
• Knowledge and application of quantitative genetics and population genetics
• Knowledge of breeding methods and breeding schemes
• Familiarity with the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of breeding results
• Fundamental statistical knowledge and proficiency in using databases and MS Office
• Flexibility to adapt workflows to the seasonal requirements of plant breeding
• Willingness and physical fitness to conduct fieldwork during summer and autumn
• Team player
• Very good language skills in German and English
• Category B driving licence
