Your ResponsibilitiesWe would be delighted if you became part of our team at the Institute for Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation. Come and work with us as you pursue your PhD in modeling of energy systems on the path towards a sustainable future. The position is initially limited to 6 months, but can be extended (there is funding for up to 4 years).

You can expect:

  • Participation in cutting-edge European research projects on data aggregation and optimisation of net-zero energy systems, covering topics such as:
    Mathematical optimisation (e.g. linear programming, mixed integer programming),
    Modelling of energy systems, Data science and machine learning (e.g. time series aggregation, clustering, etc.),
    Techno-economic analyses
  • Scientific publications and participation in national/international journals and conferences
  • Independent supervision of BA and MA projects and Master's theses

Your Profile

  • Experience in modelling and optimisation of energy systems
  • Experience in data science, machine learning and data analysis
  • Experience with relevant optimisation and data science software (e.g. GAMS, Python, R, etc.)
  • Excellent command of English (oral and written)

Admission Requirements

Completed Master's or DI degree (at the time of starting) in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, operations research, mathematics or a related engineering programme.

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 52,007.20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
