The Data Mining and Machine Learning research group at the University of Vienna invites applications for a funded PhD position in Explainability for Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. The successful candidate will join the group as a pre-doctoral researcher and will be supervised by Prof. Benjamin Roth. The position is funded for three years.

Research Topics May Include, But Are Not Limited To

– Personalized explanations for large language models (LLMs) and AI agents

– Training data-based explanations

– Evaluation and usability of explainable AI

Eligibility And Application Requirements

– Graduates or advanced MSc students in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Statistics, or related fields

– Submission of the following documents via the university job portal:

– Academic CV

– Letter of intent and a description of a possible dissertation topic (2-5 pages)

– Degree certificate of completed master’s or diploma studies
