Job Description:

The World Bank Group (WBG) is a major source of funding and knowledge for developing countries, working to end extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity. It has 189 member countries and over 120 offices worldwide.

In response to recent shocks in Europe and Central Asia, WBG focuses on boosting human capital, green transitions, market facilitation, and strengthening institutions. The Finance, Competitiveness, and Investment Global Practice (FCI) supports these goals through financial stability and firm-level solutions.

The World Bank Financial Sector Advisory Center (FinSAC), funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance, provides technical assistance on financial stability topics, aligning regional practices with European standards and international best practices.

This position focuses on FinSAC's Pillar 1 activities related to Financial Stability, Macroprudential framework, and Crisis preparedness, especially in Deposit Insurance, Crisis Preparedness, and Interagency Coordination. The role involves assessing client needs, providing technical assistance, developing policy advice, and collaborating with regional and global teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and enhancing deposit insurance frameworks for client countries.
  • Providing high-quality technical assistance to financial authorities.
  • Leading dialogue with client agencies on project demands.
  • Developing and delivering technical assistance projects.
  • Analyzing international and EU practices and literature.
  • Preparing policy notes, reports, and dissemination materials.
  • Contributing to FinSAC's reviews and knowledge projects.

Qualifications include a Master's degree with at least eight years of relevant experience in banking regulation and supervision, strong knowledge of international standards (e.g., IADI, FSB, EU directives), and excellent communication skills. Ability to work in international, multicultural environments and willingness to travel frequently are essential.

This internal requisition is open only to WBG and IMF staff; external candidates are not eligible to apply.

Note: If you are not a passport holder of Austria or the country of the vacancy, a work permit may be required.
