Head of Finance

Big River Pork, located in Murray Bridge SA 5253, is looking for a Head of Finance to join our Senior Management Team. This position will work closely with the CEO, Chairman of the Board, and Senior Management team to execute the company’s financial strategy. This role is pivotal in ensuring the company’s financial health, sustainability, and compliance while driving operational efficiency and supporting strategic growth initiatives.

This role is ideal for a qualified finance leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about building scalable systems, nurturing talent, and turning numbers into commercial clarity.

As the manager of a small, tight-knit team, we are seeking someone with ideas and leadership that can truly make a difference. This hands-on role will provide financial leadership to the business and team, acting as the “gatekeeper” of the company’s finances.

The Role:

• Own end-to-end strategic financial planning, including budgets, forecasts, and long-range models.
• Champion process improvement and best practice implementation across finance operations.
• Drive clarity and action through timely and meaningful financial reporting and analysis.
• Partner with senior managers to prepare board-ready business cases and financial insights.
• Ensure robust governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks.
• Present weekly, monthly, and quarterly results to stakeholders, explaining variances vs. budget and promoting insightful discussion on financial performance.
• Lead and mentor a small team, fostering capability and alignment.

Key qualifications and highly regarded experience include:

• Senior-level finance experience (CFO, Head of Finance, or Financial Controller).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Professional finance qualification (CPA highly regarded).
• Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder influencing capability.
• Track record of producing decision-ready financial material.
• Knowledge/experience of manufacturing environments (highly regarded).
• Knowledge/understanding of Carbon Accounting (highly regarded).
