Your future responsibilities

The Power Electronics Team in Villach is seeking motivated students to collaborate with scientists and research engineers on scientific paper contributions, lab setup preparation, and prototype and test setup construction for various scenarios.

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge in emerging topics in power electronics, including:

  • Exploring wide bandgap (WBG) devices, including device characterization, modeling, and simulation for power electronic devices and systems.
  • Working with novel test setups to characterize power semiconductor devices and building multi-domain simulation models for power electronics.
  • Improving state-of-the-art power electronics packaging and cooling technologies for active and passive components.
  • Understanding packaging and fabrication aspects of power electronics assemblies and developing novel mechanical solutions for improved packaging.
  • Optimizing power electronics converters by enhancing control algorithms and implementing real-time sensing options for condition monitoring.
  • Designing next-generation power converters with enhanced power density and efficiency beyond current standards.

This position is suitable for students from bachelor's to master's level at universities, universities of applied sciences, and technical high schools (HTL), with a mandatory internship component in their curriculum. We support the 'study and work' program at FH Kärnten.
