Lead Physical Performance Scientist

The RedBull Athlete Performance Center is an athlete accelerator to enable RedBull athletes to become truly outstanding performers. We use advanced technology, analytics and insights from hundreds of different sports to recognize an athlete’s individual potential.

The main purpose of this job position is to manage and guide RedBull APC Physical Performance Coaches in athletic, rehabilitation and performance related topics, ensuring delivery of World Class Physical Performance interventions, optimised and individualised to provide maximum impact on RedBull athletes and teams.

Working closely with the Global Performance Director and the Lead Physical Performance Coach, the Lead Physical Performance Scientist will promote an interdisciplinary approach (Mental Performance, Performance Innovation, Performance Projects, Nutrition, Physiotherapy, Medical Doctors as well as colleagues from across the business operations team) to ensure a positive performance impact on RedBull athletes at the APC.

Team-Lead

Managing and leading the Physical Performance Scientists across methodological, developmental, organisational, and strategic areas to achieve goals and deliver high-quality results.

Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, encouraging team growth and development

Implement best practices and continuous improvement strategies to optimize team performance.

Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to report progress and address challenges

Ensuring team members are continuously developed and educated to maintain the skills and knowledge necessary for the department’s success.

Collaboration

Collaborating with other APC departments, being part of athlete focussed interdisciplinary approaches and integrating activities within the wider APC performance system (projects, teams etc).

Managing key relationships with external equipment, technology- and sport science support partners in the area of physical performance.

Demonstrating the ability to think strategically and execute key strategic targets.

Assessment, training and programming

Leading the assessment and testing of athletes’ physical skills relevant to their sport and goals.

Interpreting athlete data, supporting training and intervention recommendations based on the results.

Integrating innovative assessment concepts and modern technology in the field of physical performance.

Supporting the programming of physical performance training, including rehabilitation and return to sport through appropriate interventions.

Providing ongoing support to select athletes remotely via applicable tools.

Coordinating multiple optimised high-performance outcomes/experiences for RedBull athletes.

Expertise

Für die Rolle relevant:

  • 8+ years of proven success delivering in performance environments across sport organizations and constituencies.
  • Deep understanding of elite athlete performance testing and programming in multiple domains of sport.
  • Minimum - Masters in Sport Science or equivalent.
  • Experience of higher-level performance support in professional and/or Olympic disciplines.
  • Proven experience in applied performance science support.
  • Creative, strategic thinker capable of bridging vision/science with practical execution in sport environments.
  • Widely connected in the physical performance field, both with scientists, coaches, experts and potential partners.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (additional languages desirable)
