Your future responsibilities
Are you ready to contribute to cutting-edge research in communications and sensing systems? Join our innovative team as aJunior Research Engineer HW/SW Co-Design and help shape future technologies!
Design control units based on microcontrollers ranging from 8-bit MCUs to 32-bit/64-bit ARM architectures for use in research projects on communications and sensing systems.
Set up software development projects from scratch, including the definition of a hardware abstraction layer, in parallel with the hardware development process.
Verification of hardware/software implementation in the lab.
Lab management, including supply chain management for materials and small parts required for project work.
Technical project work integrated within small to medium-sized teams
Internal and external representation of the SAL project team.

Your profile
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field
3+ years of experience in electronics development with a focus on PCB design and microcontroller integration
Familiarity with industry-standard tools (Altium Designer, VS Code, Eclipse IDE) and/or open-source tools (KiCAD, GNU C compilers)
Hands-on experience with PCB assembly and hardware bring-up using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
Interest in expanding your scope from pure technical development to research-driven innovation
Experience in:
PCB design (preferably with Altium Designer)
Microcontroller hardware integration and programming (from HAL to application layer)
Matlab, Python, and Linux (basic knowledge)
Training in work safety is a plus
Fluent in German and English (spoken and written)

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group C 1. We offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications. For this position, your minimum monthly gross salary starts with EUR 2.776(on full-time basis), paid 14 times a year.
