Position Overview
We are inviting applications for a PhD position focused on developing high-accuracy predictive algorithms and situational awareness strategies for indoor industrial environments. The research involves exploring the use of real-time sensing data and communication signals to enhance capabilities such as localization, obstacle detection, and predictive modeling using machine learning.
This position is part of the MSCA-DN ISAC-NEWTON project at Silicon Austria Labs and includes enrollment in the Doctoral Program at Technische Universität Wien.
Research Objectives
The project aims to predict the behavior of communication systems in dynamic industrial settings and integrate these insights into a digital twin framework. This will enable anticipatory decisions, early detection of connectivity issues, and real-time system optimization, contributing to reliable and adaptive automation solutions with 6G technology.
Responsibilities
- Develop predictive algorithms and situational awareness strategies.
- Explore sensor data and communication signals for localization and obstacle avoidance.
- Integrate insights into digital twin frameworks for proactive system management.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must not have been awarded a PhD.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related fields.
- Residency restrictions: less than 12 months in Austria in the past three years prior to employment.
- Proficiency in English.
- Knowledge of scientific research methods and interest in academia.
- Expertise in telecommunications, machine learning, or signal processing.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for embedded systems.
- Teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation skills.
