Senior Agentic Data Scientist (m/f/x) Applied Mathematics & AI

Your role at Dynatrace

We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist who combines deep mathematical rigor with hands-on machine learning expertise.

In this role, you’ll architect and deploy agentic AI systems to solve complex, real-world challenges and accelerate data-driven product innovation.

You’ll bridge theory and practice – fine-tuning foundation models (LLMs/transformers), crafting prompt engineering and RAG solutions, and translating experimental results into scalable, production-grade AI services.

What you’ll do

• Build, optimize, and maintain end-to-end ML pipelines and experimentation frameworks.
• Fine-tune, deploy, and monitor foundation models (LLMs, transformers) and generative architectures.
• Develop prompt engineering workflows and retrieval-augmented generation systems and innovative integration with MCP and A2A.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and research teams to integrate AI into customer-facing products.
• Lead experimental design, data analysis, and performance benchmarking.
• Author technical publications, present findings at conferences, and mentor junior scientists and engineers

What will help you succeed

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field; Master’s in AI/ML or Computational Neuroscience; PhD highly desirable.
• 5+ years’ experience in applied data science, with a track record of deploying mathematical models at scale.
• Proficiency with Python (NumPy, pandas, PyTorch/TensorFlow) and strong coding skills in Java or C++.
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning and deploying LLMs and generative AI architectures.
• Solid understanding of prompt engineering, RAG, and ML operations.
• Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• We offer attractive compensation packages and stock purchase options withnumerous benefits and advantages.
• Due to legal reasons, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary for this position, which is € 80,000gross per year based on full-time employment. We offer ahigher salaryin line with qualifications and experience.
