Job summary

Waste Resource Management (WRM) seeks a dependable Yard Worker for our Denver, CO yard. This full-time role focuses on safe, efficient daily operations, including sorting rail cars, coupling/uncoupling, weighing trucks, and assisting with freight handling to keep workflows running smoothly.

The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, communicates well with yard staff, train crews, and operations teams, and is ready for overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.
• Must be self-motivated, dependable, and hard-working.
• Ability to stay focused and avoid distractions on the job.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs multiple times daily.
• Must pass background check and drug screening.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Sort and organize rail cars to ensure efficient yard operations.
• Couple and uncouple rail cars safely and accurately.
• Scale trucks in and out of the yard.
• Inspect equipment regularly for safety or maintenance issues.
• Operate switches and signals to direct rail traffic.
• Communicate directions and needs with yard personnel.
• Assist in loading and unloading freight as required.
• Operate forklifts when needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe yard environment.
• Support operators with various tasks to ensure smooth workflow.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
