The Inter-American Development Bank is seeking a Debt Service & Treasury Operations Senior Associate to manage debt service obligations, settlements, and cash flow for bonds, swaps, and derivative transactions. You will ensure accurate processing, validate forecasts, and support Straight Through Processing across global markets.

You will work within the Cash Management and Settlements team, collaborating with counterparties and internal controls to maintain operational integrity and risk

Formación

  • Master's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in treasury operations or related financial functions.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English; French or Portuguese knowledge preferred.

Responsabilidades

  • Monitor and manage debt service obligations for bonds, notes, swaps, and derivatives.
  • Review and validate debt service forecasts, payment schedules, and settlement requirements.
  • Execute and monitor STP transactions through treasury management systems.
  • Prepare and release payment instructions via SWIFT and other settlement networks.
  • Coordinate with counterparties, paying agents, custodians, and banks to confirm settlement instructions.
  • Perform cash flow reconciliations and investigate settlement breaks or discrepancies.
  • Manage confirmations and settlements for SOFR-linked and other floating-rate transactions.
  • Maintain controls, documentation, and audit trails for compliance and risk management.
  • Support funding and liquidity management activities related to capital markets operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and increase automation.

About this position

We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Debt Service & Treasury Operations Senior Associate. As a Debt Service & Treasury Operations Senior Associate, you will manage and oversee debt service activities related to bonds, swaps, and other capital market transactions, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of coupon, principal, and derivative payments. You will monitor payment forecasts, validate settlement instructions, coordinate payment confirmations with counterparties, paying agents, and custodians, investigate discrepancies, and support the execution of Straight Through Processing (STP) transactions through treasury management systems and SWIFT infrastructure.

You will work in the Cash Management and Settlements (CMS) team of the Finance Department, under the Vice Presidency for Finance and Administration. The CMS team is responsible for managing the settlement and cash management activities associated with the Bank's funding, investment, and derivative operations, ensuring the accurate processing of debt service obligations, maintaining effective controls over payment execution, and supporting the operational integrity of treasury transactions across global financial markets.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen controls, and increase automation across debt service and settlement processes.
What you'll need
  • Education: Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Mathematics, Engineering, or other fields relevant to treasury operations and capital markets.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of progressive experience in treasury operations, debt service, capital markets, financial settlements, cash management, banking operations, or related financial functions.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable
Requirements
  • Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Colombia or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or a legal permit to work in Colombia.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
  • Staff: National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
