Job Description

This job is part of Finance Shared Services (FSS) organization, which was established as one of the key elements of new operating model for AbbVie to provide accurate financial accounting and reporting for all international affiliates. The Statutory and Tax Accounting Lead is responsible for timeliness and accuracy of local statutory and tax compliance requirements for Colombia. This position works closely with a number of stakeholders across the organization to support financial decision-making process by collecting, analyzing, and reporting local financial data.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Preparation of statutory financial statements including the related disclosures. This position is responsible to ensure the right issuing of financial statements, including alignments with stakeholders.
  • Coordination Statutory audits:
    • Support Finance Director in execution of local statutory audits.
    • Coordinate and prepare PBC & samples requirements.
    • Plan and coordinate audit schedule with external auditors, service providers (if any) and internal departments.
    • Execute audit plan by ensuring timelines are met.
    • Establish escalation protocol, monitor, and report audit progress.
    • Manage the Statutory calendar.
  • Tailoring of local income tax provision and deferred tax, ensuring approval by Tax CoE Manager.
  • Support income tax return process providing PBC items and resolving questions on demand.
  • Performing of annual local GAAP closing and other adjustments required to attend external audit visits.
  • Participate/ review US GAAP month close process with primary focus to identify adjustments necessary for local GAAP:
    • Regular reconciliation of US and local GAAP ledgers to ensure integrity of data.
    • Perform local GAAP adjustments.
    • Identify and perform adjustments needed for additional disclosures (T&E, Payroll benefits etc).
    • Maintain local GAAP balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Conduct balance sheet reviews periodically.
    • Prepare and distribute reports to key contacts.
  • Interpretation and roll out of local accounting policy/standards.
  • Prepare Standard Operating Procedures, Flow charts, Calendar, Checklists to ensure local GAAP requirements are documented and necessary processes are in place.
  • Review reconciliations assigned ensuring quality standards required by the company.
  • Prepare monthly and bimonthly taxes as: WHT, VAT, ReteICA, ICA.
  • Perform secondary fillings for Colombia.
  • Prepare reports as: TP Package, Conversion File, Profitability, Tax Roll-forward, VEP Calendar.
  • Prepare reports for DANE as is required to Abbvie by this entity.
  • Support process of Exchange Regime, leading the fulfillment of this process.
  • Coordinate the submission of Magnetic Media, National and local, according to requirements of each control entity.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting & CPA
  • 5 + years of progressive finance experience in Accounting/Taxes.
  • Experience with SAP required.
  • Pharma experience is desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Individual must be self-motivated with great follow-up skills and be able to work independently.

  • Strong Colombia taxes knowledge.
  • Local statutory obligations and filings and Government statutory reporting requirements.
  • Financial Statements preparation and analysis.
Business Knowledge
  • Chart of Accounts.
  • IFRS framework.
  • Account reconciliation.
  • Audit coordination & facing.
Systems
  • SAP.
  • Blackline.
  • MS Office (strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation i.e., pivot tables, formulas such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF, etc.).
