Job summary

Rankings.io is seeking a seasoned video editor and storyteller for a remote independent contractor role. You will transform raw footage into engaging narratives, balancing traditional editing with AI-driven visuals and tools like ComfyUI, Claude, and leading Adobe apps.

You’ll craft social, podcast, and campaign videos, develop motion graphics, and ensure consistency with brand voice while collaborating with global teams and aligning with US Central/Eastern Time hours.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in video editing, motion graphics, or visual design, with AI now a core part of your creative workflow.
• Strong command of composition, typography, pacing, color, animation, and sound.
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, with Photoshop or Illustrator experience.
• Meaningful experience using AI throughout production, beyond basic prompting or automated captions.
• Hands-on experience with ComfyUI or comparable visual generation workflows.
• Experience using Claude or similar tools for concept development, scripting, workflow support, or automation.

Responsibilities

• Edit compelling video for social media, podcasts, paid campaigns, service launches, events, and brand storytelling.
• Create motion graphics, animated typography, and visual sequences that strengthen the story.
• Use AI to generate and refine imagery, footage, backgrounds, and other creative assets.
• Combine original footage, AI-generated visuals, sound, and motion design into cohesive finished work.
• Turn longer recordings, interviews, podcasts, and webinars into focused short-form content with strong hooks, pacing, and clear messaging.
• Build repeatable workflows that increase production capacity while maintaining visual quality and brand consistency.
• Collaborate with our creative, content, and marketing teams to translate briefs into effective video.

This is a remote independent contractor opportunity working closely with our US-based team. Candidates should have strong English communication skills and availability for scheduled collaboration during US Central or Eastern Time hours.

About The Role

You’re a video editor and storyteller first. You know how to find the moment that makes someone stop scrolling, turn raw footage into a story, and use pacing, sound, motion, and design to keep them watching.

But the way you create has evolved with AI. It’s not an occasional shortcut or add-on to your process. You use it to generate visuals, build motion content, develop concepts, solve creative problems, and dramatically expand what’s possible within an edit.

You’re just as comfortable in Premiere Pro and After Effects as you are experimenting with ComfyUI, Claude, and emerging AI tools. You know how to move between traditional editing and AI workflows to take an idea further, faster, without sacrificing the creative judgment that makes the work good in the first place.

Requirements

• Portfolio required. Please share 3–5 work examples.
• 8+ years of professional experience in video editing, motion graphics, or visual design, with AI now a core part of your creative workflow.
• A strong command of composition, typography, pacing, color, animation, and sound.
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, with Photoshop or Illustrator experience.
• Meaningful experience using AI throughout production, beyond basic prompting or automated captions.
• Hands‑on experience with ComfyUI or comparable visual generation workflows.
• Experience using Claude or similar tools for concept development, scripting, workflow support, or automation.
• The ability to refine generated content, resolve visual inconsistencies, and make intentional creative decisions.
• Strong organization, communication, and ability to work independently.
• Technology and Security Requirement: Contractors accessing Rankings.io systems and client data are required, under the terms of the Contractor Services Agreement, to maintain endpoint security software (Huntress) for the duration of the engagement. This does not grant Rankings.io remote access to, or control over, contractor devices.

Compensation & Work Environment

• Monthly retainer of $2,500 – $3,500 USD, invoiced by the contractor.

Engagement Type

This opportunity is structured as an independent contractor engagement. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations in their country of residence. Nothing in this posting should be interpreted as creating an employment relationship. The selected candidate will provide services to Rankings.io as an independent contractor pursuant to a written contractor agreement. Contractors must reside in an eligible country. We are unable to engage contractors located in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, or the Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, or Zaporizhzhia regions.

What to Expect in the Interview Process

• One‑Way Video Interview: Selected candidates will be sent a link to complete a one‑way video interview. Please plan to record in your typical work‑from‑home environment, ensuring it is well‑lit and free of distractions.
• Live Zoom Interview: Candidates who move forward will meet with Talent Acquisition and the Hiring Manager for a live Zoom interview to discuss experience, role expectations, and project fit.
