Role Overview

CI&T is seeking a skilled Python Engineer/AWS ML Ops Expert to join our nearshore team working on a project for our client in the mortgage technology sector. This role will focus on implementing and deploying intelligent systems that optimize the usage of expensive third-party verification APIs ($100s per call). You will build the infrastructure to support data-driven decision-making around API call sequences, creating "waterfall" strategies that minimize unnecessary calls while maintaining effective verification processes. Your work will directly translate data science models into production systems that generate significant cost savings.

Key Responsibilities

1. Implement and deploy machine learning models that optimize third-party API call sequences
2. Build systems that can make real-time decisions on which verification services to call based on available data
3. Develop infrastructure to track and analyze the effectiveness and cost of different API call strategies
4. Create monitoring dashboards to visualize API usage patterns, costs, and optimization opportunities
5. Implement and maintain data pipelines that capture call patterns and outcomes for continuous improvement
6. Design and build systems that can A/B test different API call strategies to determine optimal approaches
7. Collaborate with data scientists to translate optimization algorithms into production systems
8. Ensure security and compliance when handling sensitive verification data
9. Implement logging and tracing systems to provide visibility into API call decision-making
10. Design architecture that supports quick updates to call sequence strategies as models improve
11. Optimize serverless architecture to support cost-efficient processing of verification workflows

Required Qualifications

1. Solid experience with AWS services (particularly Lambda, Step Functions, SageMaker, DynamoDB)
2. Experience implementing systems that make real-time decisions based on data and business rules
3. Strong understanding of ML Ops practices and model deployment
4. Experience building monitoring and logging systems for API usage
5. Knowledge of cost optimization strategies in cloud environments
6. Experience with serverless architectures and event-driven systems
7. Excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal)
8. Ability to work in a collaborative, remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience building systems that optimize API usage or implement intelligent routing
2. Familiarity with implementing decision tree algorithms in production
3. Knowledge of financial service verification APIs and their usage patterns
4. Experience building systems that track and attribute costs to different processing decisions
5. Background in implementing A/B testing frameworks for decisioning systems
6. AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, Machine Learning Specialty)
7. Familiarity with security and compliance requirements for handling sensitive financial data
8. Prior experience working with international teams
9. Understanding of building systems that balance rule-based and ML-based decision making
