About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in Fraud and Risk Management systems, specifically within Fintech environments. As a key Sr. SWE in our Risk & Fraud domain, you will design and build scalable, resilient fraud detection and prevention platforms, lead cross-functional initiatives, and contribute to our long-term architecture and product strategy.

This role is ideal for an engineer with 8+ years of experience, a strong systems background, and the ability to bridge engineering and product teams to protect user trust and platform integrity. This role is open to all candidates in Latin America.

Responsibilities
  • Architect and build scalable, high-availability Fraud and Risk platforms, with a focus on performance, reliability, and extensibility.
  • Own the design and development of core platform components such as event pipelines, rule engines, risk decision APIs, and signal ingestion layers.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure to support real-time fraud monitoring, including workflow orchestration, alerting, and rule evaluation systems.
  • Drive the integration of third-party data providers and internal services into a unified fraud decisioning platform.
  • Ensure systems are well-instrumented, observable, and resilient, with clear SLAs and robust monitoring.
  • Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, and security teams to uphold compliance, scalability, and deployment best practices.
System Design & Leadership
  • Design for scale, latency, resilience, and privacy in high-volume financial transaction environments.
  • Evaluate and evolve risk decisioning frameworks, supporting both manual review and automated responses.
  • Actively participate in incident resolution, RCAs, and on-call rotations for Fraud/Risk platforms.
  • Raise engineering standards through thoughtful code reviews, architectural discussions, and mentorship.
Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to define technical solutions that meet evolving fraud scenarios and regulatory requirements.
  • Translate risk policy requirements into engineering deliverables.
  • Collaborate across squads to ensure fraud systems integrate cleanly with onboarding, payments, and identity systems.
  • Own, create and improve Fraud Metrics
Requirements
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years working on fraud, risk, or financial crime prevention platforms.
  • Proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Kotlin, Java, Golang, or similar.
  • Experience building or working with platform systems, event-driven architectures and real-time processing systems (Kafka, Pub/Sub, Flink, or equivalent).
  • Deep understanding of fraud detection concepts, including risk scoring and rule engines, fraud signals and feature engineering, velocity limits, anomaly detection, transaction monitoring, and false positive/negative tuning.
  • Strong knowledge of databases, caching, and system performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with observability and alerting in high-sensitivity systems.
  • Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level or higher is required.
Nice to have
  • Experience working in or closely with Fintech, Payments, Lending, or Banking platforms.
  • Exposure to regulatory concerns around KYC, AML, PSD2, 3DSecure, CCPA, GDPR, LGPD.
  • Familiarity with integrating third-party providers like Seon, Sardine, Sift, Feedzai, or Socure.
  • Previous experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction at team or domain level.

  • You balance speed with rigor, able to deliver under pressure without sacrificing reliability.
  • You proactively identify fraud gaps or design flaws, and lead efforts to fix them.
