Do you want your engineering skills to make a real difference? Our client builds AI-powered adaptive learning platforms that give students around the world recommendations, remediations, and better outcomes. We’re hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to build and support reliable infrastructure for teams across the company. On the SRE team you’ll help operate shared AWS EKS and Databricks platforms, improve their security and observability, and partner with application and data teams to resolve production issues and make services easier to run.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain Kubernetes releases using established Terraform patterns, with attention to security, observability, and operational readiness.
- Support teams using EKS and Databricks with production triage, root cause analysis, and better monitoring and documentation.
- Keep infrastructure automation repeatable, traceable, and transparent (infrastructure-as-code, monitoring-as-code).
- Evaluate emerging Kubernetes capabilities such as EKS Auto Mode, Karpenter, and Argo CD.
- Take part in on-call rotations, and cut down recurring alerts and manual work through automation.
- Maintain telemetry that gives visibility into application performance and business metrics.
- Support healthy development practices: agile, code reviews, work packaging, and continuous delivery.
- Take part in failure injection and chaos testing, and document steady-state production levels and growth patterns.
- Coordinate improvements to software and infrastructure to meet resiliency goals.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience (preferred), with an SRE/DevOps or Platform Engineering background.
- Strong expertise in AWS EKS, which is the primary focus of the role.
- Very strong Terraform: authoring, reviewing, and deploying, including modules.
- Hands‑on experience building, maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters.
- Proven experience building and managing large‑scale AWS systems in repeatable ways with zero downtime.
- Experience with n-tier AWS architecture and backend/platform engineering.
- Hands‑on EKS production support, including workloads, networking, and cluster health.
- Security awareness and understanding of security best practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication, and a collaborative approach to supporting other teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of everyday Terraform use.
- Experience as a Software Engineer, SDET, SRE, or DevOps Engineer supporting enterprise applications.
- EKS and/or ECS container fleet orchestration.
- Troubleshooting across web servers, application platforms, OS, networking, virtualization, storage, and databases.
- CI/CD, plus Blue/Green, zero‑downtime, canary, and DNS migration strategies.
- Cloud database operations (RDS MySQL/Postgres/Aurora).
- Telemetry tools such as New Relic, Datadog, or similar.
- Strong problem‑solving, triage, root cause analysis, and systems engineering skills.
- AI tooling and assistants (Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, etc.).
- Databricks experience, or a data platform background with interest in Databricks.
- Security tools such as Rapid7.
- BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
