Job summary

AgileEngine in Colombia is seeking a Senior SDET to build and maintain web and API automation frameworks from scratch, and to define the automation strategy within squads.

The role requires strong Java programming, experience with REST Assured and Playwright, and the ability to drive a shift-left testing approach within CI/CD pipelines, mentoring peers to raise quality.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as an SDET Engineer.
• Strong programming skills in Java (a developer-first approach to QA).
• Extensive experience using REST Assured for backend testing.
• Proven hands-on experience with Playwright.
• Deep understanding of the shift-left approach and integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to work independently and provide technical direction on quality initiatives.
• Upper-intermediate English level.

Responsibilities

• Framework Design: Build and maintain scalable automation frameworks for Web and API layers.
• Strategy & Leadership: Define the automation strategy to ensure high test coverage and reliable releases.
• Backend Validation: Create API automation suites to ensure microservices integrity.
• Frontend Validation: Implement and manage frontend automation scripts for quality UX.
• Coaching: Mentor engineers on testing best practices and foster a quality-first culture.

ABOUT THE ROLE

MUST HAVES

• 4+ years of experience as an SDET Engineer.
• Strong programming skills in Java (a "developer-first" approach to QA).
• Extensive experience using REST Assured for backend testing.
• Proven hands‑on experience with Playwright.
• Deep understanding of the "shift-left" approach and integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to work independently and provide technical direction on quality initiatives.
• Upper‑intermediate English level.

NICE TO HAVES

• Previous experience in the Loyalty or Fintech sectors.
• Experience with performance or load testing (e.g., JMeter or Gatling).
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and SQL for data validation within test scripts.
• Experience working with mocking frameworks.
