Job summary

AgileEngine, LLC. in Bogotá, Colombia, seeks a Senior Python Developer to design and build scalable microservices and REST APIs, collaborating with Product, DevOps, and Frontend teams.

You will own architecture, write clean, tested Python code, containerize with Docker, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. Strong PostgreSQL/ORM and Pytest experience required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional backend software development experience using Python.
• Deep understanding of Python core concepts (OOP, functional programming, memory management, async/concurrency, data structures).
• API & Microservices: production-grade REST APIs and distributed microservices architectures.
• Databases: PostgreSQL and ORM frameworks.
• Testing: unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using Pytest.
• Version Control: Git and collaborative development workflows (PRs, branching, code reviews).

Responsibilities

• Architecture & Development: Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable microservices and RESTful APIs using Python (FastAPI, Django, or Flask).
• Code Quality: write clean, readable, maintainable, and well-tested code; perform peer reviews and promote modern Python practices.
• Containerization & CI/CD: containerize apps with Docker and build/optimize CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
• Database Management: design schema models, write optimized SQL, and work with ORMs (SQLAlchemy) with PostgreSQL/MySQL and NoSQL where applicable.
• System Integration & Scalability: integrate third-party APIs with low latency and high availability; ensure security standards.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: work with frontend, product, and DevOps; mentor junior/mid engineers.

MUST HAVES

• - 4+ years of professional backend software development experience using Python.
• - Deep understanding of Python core concepts (OOP, functional programming, memory management, async/concurrency, and data structures).
• - API & Microservices: Proven track record of building and deploying production-grade REST APIs and distributed microservices architectures.
• - Databases: Strong proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks.
• - Testing: Commitment to writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using frameworks like Pytest.
• - Version Control: Advanced proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (Pull Requests, branching strategies, code reviews).

NICE TO HAVES

• - CI/CD & DevOps Tools: Solid hands-on experience with Docker (writing optimized Dockerfiles and Docker Compose).
• - Highly desirable experience setting up and managing GitHub Actions workflows for automated testing and deployment.
