Job summary

The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering and at least 6 years of experience, with strong planning, budgeting, and vendor review skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 6 years engineering experience.
• Ability to manage and motivate individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives.
• Strong deliverable focus and planning ability.
• Good understanding of procurement, contracting and commissioning methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all work designed or supplied by the mechanical engineering discipline complies with health and safety standards and project codes.
• Understand project requirements related to scope, execution strategy, cost and schedule with the Engineering Manager.
• Prepare a list of engineering deliverables and time-based functions to support budgeting.
• Support site field visits to obtain information and data.
• Lead equipment identification and selection activities, including sizing, layout, and vendor reviews.
• Lead piping system design activities, including hydraulic analysis, P&ID development, material specs, and stress analysis.
• Develop the work plan for insertion into the Project execution plan and maintain scope of work documentation.
• Manage and review engineering work packages to meet budgets and schedules.
• Review and approve technical deliverables.
• Assist in the preparation of project-specific procedures.
• Coordinate across disciplines as design evolves.
• Conduct quality audits and maintain technical documentation per QA plan.
• Participate in HAZOP reviews.
• Resolve engineering issues through project lifecycle and promote professional practices.
