Hatch in Medellín, Colombia, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to lead the development of mechanical equipment layouts, models and drawings under the supervision of the Lead Mechanical Engineer. You will interpret owner requirements, coordinate draftspersons, perform 3D modeling and 2D drafting, ensuring compliance with project standards in a large EPC/EPCM setting.

This role requires thorough design skills and strong teamwork, offering exposure to international projects and ongoing career

Formación

• Extensive 10–15 years of mechanical design experience.
• Proficient in plant layout and 3D equipment modeling.
• Experience in EPC/EPCM environments.
• Senior role capable of leading small teams and supervising others.
• Familiar with PFDs, P&IDs and plant design standards.

Mechanical Designer / Senior Mechanical Designer

Location: Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia.

As the Successful Candidate, You Will

• Be responsible for the production of mechanical equipment layouts, models and drawings in accordance with project requirements under the supervision of the Lead Mechanical Engineer.
• Have sound knowledge in the design of project specific mechanical components or systems, as well as fundamental knowledge of the plant processes.
• Understand the owner/user requirements and the project mission.
• Assist in interpreting the plant PFDs, P&IDs, and plant battery limits and constraints.
• Coordinate the work of draftspersons and senior draftspersons in the preparation of contract drawings, record keeping and monitoring.
• Perform conceptual layout work as well as check drawings prior to release.
• Develop design details of standard design elements.
• Prepare 3D equipment modeling and 3D design.
• Generate 2D drawings from the 3D model as required by the project.
• Perform the design and drafting of mechanical plant models using applicable standards, project technical specifications and enterprise or project procedures.
• Execute designs following the mechanical and layout design criteria developed.
• Use vendor data, drawings and information to develop and verify the model.
• Create and maintain check sheets for all equipment as vendor data is received; back model all changes as required.
• Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models.
• Provide material quantity takeoffs for estimating purposes or inclusion into bulk commodity purchases and installation contracts.
• Conduct operability and maintainability reviews, walkthroughs. Familiarity with HAZOP studies will be an advantage.

You Bring To The Role

• Extensive experience between 10 to 15 years.
• Exposure in Bentley OpenPlant preferred; at least exposure to similar 3D software is must.
• Experience within a large project, multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environment.
• Detailed design and modeling skills for the plant layout of mechanical equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the project.
• For senior designer role, should be able to lead small teams, plan and supervise the work of others.
• Understanding of other discipline interfaces and requirements.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
