Canonical is seeking software engineers to advance MAAS, our Metal As A Service platform. You will develop core components, shape architecture for speed and simplicity, and collaborate with teams across the globe to ensure timely releases.

The role requires a passion for open source, Linux and data-centre automation, plus travel a few times per year. You will contribute to CI, tests and docs, helping MAAS and Ubuntu projects scale for enterprise customers.

Formación

• Passionate about open source software, Linux, and Data Centre automation.
• Solid software development experience in Python, Go for back-end or TypeScript, React for front-end.
• Ability to learn quickly about new systems and techniques.
• Excellent logic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong English language communication skills - both written and verbal.
• Experience with Linux server technologies including virtualization (KVM) and containers (LXC).
• Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or similar degree.
• Knowledge of networking tech including PXE, DHCP, DNS, NTP.
• Experience with BMC and protocols (Redfish, IPMI).
• Strong networking, storage, cloud hosting and infrastructure experience.
• Experience with large-scale physical server provisioning and automation.
• Familiarity with Ubuntu projects tools (MAAS, Juju, Ubuntu Server, LXD, Ubuntu Core) such as Launchpad, Debian packaging tools, and snapcraft.
• Exceptional academic track record from school to university.
• Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year.

Responsabilidades

• Develop MAAS core components and features to make MAAS the #1 bare metal cloud system.
• Shape MAAS architecture to be simpler, faster and easier to use.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure MAAS works well with other tools and releases on time.
• Contribute improvements to CI, tests and practices for fast feedback and good test coverage.
• Contribute to documentation to be a world-class resource for data center operators and users.
• Provide technical communication and collaboration with other teams as appropriate.
• Take ownership of problems and drive them to solutions.
• Travel internationally a few times a year to meet and collaborate with teams.
