Job summary

Brightgrove Ltd. in Medellín seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design and build high performance, scalable backend services in Go. You’ll work with gRPC and REST APIs, Kafka pipelines, and Kubernetes deployments across AWS and GCP.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering, including owning backend services in production.
• 3+ years building production, highly scalable Go services, with concurrency and performance tuning.
• Experience designing high-performance gRPC and REST services with protobuf contracts and API versioning.
• Experience building Kafka pipelines and event streams with schema evolution and delivery guarantees.
• Production experience running services on Kubernetes in AWS (EKS) or GCP (GKE).
• Familiarity with AI-first tooling and agentic coding workflows.

Enterprise Platform builds and runs the internal applications that connect teams and processes across Skydance. We own data access layers that sit between key user facing services, Command Center (our internal suite of apps), and a growing set of AI assisted apps and tools.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design and build high performance, scalable backend services. You’ll work mainly in Go, building gRPC and REST APIs backed by a variety of GCP cloud services and components.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data intensive gRPC and REST APIs in Go and Node.js
• Refactor legacy Node.js services into idiomatic Go, improving performance and stability.
• Build and operate Kafka pipelines for high throughput event streaming, including producer and consumer logic, schema management, and monitoring.
• Containerize and deploy Go microservices on Kubernetes (EKS and GKE), using AWS and GCP services to build resilient, cost-effective systems.
• Contribute to architecture reviews with practical feedback on scalability, fault tolerance, and cost.
• Review code, mentor junior engineers, and champion best practices in testing, CI/CD, and security.
• Partner with Product, Program Management, QA, and other teams to align delivery with business goals.
• Prototype emerging technologies, including AI-assisted tools, to build and scale large platforms and workflows.

Skills

What You Bring

5+ years of professional software engineering, including owning backend services in production.

3+ years building production, highly scalable Go services, with a solid grasp of concurrency, profiling, and performance tuning.

Deep mastery of 1 or more programming languages

Experience designing high performance gRPC and REST services, including protobuf contracts and API versioning.

Experience building Kafka or event streams and connected apps, including schema evolution, topic design, ACLs, consumer groups, offset handling, and delivery guarantees.

Production experience running services on Kubernetes in AWS (EKS) or GCP (GKE), and comfort working across both clouds.

An AI first engineering workflow. You use agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc) daily to plan, write, test, refactor, and review code. You can explain how you keep quality high: writing clear specs, giving agents the right context, and verifying their output through tests and reviews rather than vibes.

Shipped LLM powered features to production

Built or integrated MCP servers or other agent tooling that gives AI agents extended abilities

Designed evals and guardrails for AI features, such as test datasets, regression checks, prompt injection, and HITL (human in the loop) review.

Shipped high quality UI/UX designs into production

Node.js/TypeScript, Express, and React

Helm, Terraform, and enterprise CI/CD pipelines

Observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
