Job summary

INSPYR Global Solutions is seeking a Senior Database Engineer for a remote LATAM role. This is not a traditional DBA position; you will work directly with software engineers to diagnose and fix database-driven performance problems in our products.

The role focuses on execution plans, indexing, and query tuning to raise team-wide database performance. The ideal candidate has 6+ years of hands-on SQL Server experience, deep knowledge of concurrent data access, and a track record of optimizing

• Expert-level ability to analyze and optimize complex T-SQL queries.
• Deep understanding of execution plans, statistics, and the query optimizer.
• Experience designing and tuning indexing strategies.
• Strong knowledge of concurrency, isolation levels, locking, and blocking.
• Experience working with application development teams (not only in operations/DBA).

• Diagnose and resolve SQL Server performance issues in production and pre-production environments
• Analyze, rewrite, and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures
• Read and interpret execution plans to find bottlenecks and inefficiencies
• Design and refine indexing strategies to improve query performance
• Find and resolve concurrency issues, including blocking, deadlocks, and locking contention
• Work with software engineering teams on data access patterns, query design, and schema decisions
• Share database performance best practices and build that expertise across the team

About the Role

We're creating a new role for a Senior Database Engineer to bring dedicated SQL Server performance expertise to our engineering team. This is not a traditional DBA position. You won't be focused on backups, patching, or infrastructure. You'll work directly with software engineers to diagnose and fix database-driven performance problems in our products. Our engineers are strong with databases. What we need is a specialist who goes deep on execution plans, indexing, and query tuning, and who can raise the whole team's database performance skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve SQL Server performance issues in production and pre-production environments
• Analyze, rewrite, and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures

• Strong knowledge of concurrency, isolation levels, locking, and blocking
• Track record of troubleshooting and resolving production database performance issues
• Experience working directly with application development teams (not only in an operations/DBA role)

Nice to Have

• Experience with PostgreSQL
• Experience with Cassandra or other NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with how application code (e.g., Java/ORM frameworks) shapes database performance
