Job summary

Contec Americas Inc. is seeking an experienced Buyer/Planner to support U.S.-based manufacturing from Colombia, Costa Rica, or Mexico.

The role blends purchasing, material planning, supplier coordination, shortages, and inbound logistics, working remotely with suppliers and site teams to ensure materials are available for production. The successful candidate will review demand, maintain material plans, manage POs, monitor availability, and coordinate shipments while communicating across regions

Qualifications

• HS diploma plus relevant experience in purchasing/planning or similar role.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems in manufacturing or supply-chain env.
• Working knowledge of purchasing, material planning, inventory, and supplier mgmt.
• Ability to interpret BOMs, lead times, planning signals, and supplier commitments.
• Effective English communication with suppliers and U.S.-based teams.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate priorities across distributed teams.
• Overlap with U.S. manufacturing location required.

Responsibilities

• Review demand, forecasts, inventory, and MRP to determine material requirements.
• Develop and maintain material plans for assigned products.
• Issue and manage purchase orders with approved suppliers.
• Confirm supplier commitments for price, quantity, and delivery.
• Monitor material availability and resolve shortages.
• Follow up on past-due PO and delivery issues.
• Coordinate and expedite inbound shipments as needed.
• Evaluate shipping timing, options, and freight costs.
• Maintain purchasing/planning data in ERP/MRP system.
• Support work-order and production-planning activities.
• Assist with engineering changes and new products material phase-in/out.
• Identify risks and coordinate corrective actions.
• Communicate with suppliers and U.S.-based teams clearly.
• Participate in supply, shortage, backlog, and reviews.
• Support improvements to purchasing, planning, master data, and supplier management.
