We are looking to appoint a Regional Internal Audit Manager for our regional hub in Bogotá, Colombia.
Role Summary
Regional Internal Audit Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating internal audit activities across the assigned region, covering multiple countries and business operations, including metals and mining, ports and terminals, logistics, construction, and other industrial activities.
The role will focus on assessing regional risks, managing audit engagements, monitoring remediation actions, and providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control processes across regional operations.
Working closely with local and regional management teams, as well as the Group Internal Audit function, Regional Internal Audit Manager will ensure that audit activities within the assigned region are effectively executed in line with Group standards and priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's degree or a relevant professional certification such as CIA, CPA, or CISA is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in internal audit, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven experience coordinating or managing internal audit activities across multiple entities, countries, or business units within a region.
- Experience within a multinational industrial group, preferably in metals and mining, ports, logistics, heavy industry, energy, or infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of internal auditing standards, financial and operational controls, risk management, and governance frameworks.
- Ability to navigate different regulatory, operational, and business environments across the assigned region.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively with country management and regional leadership teams.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in information security, IT governance, data analytics, or technology risk is an advantage.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently within the assigned region and internationally when required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate internal audit engagements across the assigned region, ensuring effective execution in line with Group Internal Audit methodology and standards.
- Assess key financial, operational, compliance, and strategic risks affecting regional businesses and contribute regional insights to the Group’s risk assessment and audit planning processes.
- Develop and manage regional audit schedules and priorities based on business risks, operational developments, and Group Internal Audit requirements.
- Conduct and oversee audits across different businesses and countries within the region, ensuring appropriate scope, quality, documentation, and timely completion.
- Identify control weaknesses, operational inefficiencies, and emerging risks, and recommend practical and sustainable corrective actions.
- Work closely with country CEOs, CFOs, functional leaders, and local management teams to communicate audit findings and strengthen internal control environments.
- Monitor the implementation of agreed audit actions across the region and elevate significant or overdue matters to Group Internal Audit when necessary.
- Provide regular reporting on regional audit findings, key risk themes, remediation progress, and emerging issues to Group Internal Audit leadership.
- Support post-acquisition, integration, and special audit reviews within the assigned region when required.
- Promote consistent application of Group policies, internal control standards, and audit practices across regional operations.
- Encourage the use of data analytics and technology-enabled audit techniques within regional audit activities.
- Coordinate regional internal audit resources and provide coaching and guidance to audit team members.
- Maintain strong working relationships with regional and local stakeholders while preserving the independence and objectivity of Internal Audit.
