AECOM in Bogotá, Colombia is seeking a Structural Engineer with proven expertise in building design, especially data centers or mission-critical facilities. Based in our Bogotá office, you will contribute to concrete and steel design and lead technical verification.

The role requires 6+ years in structural engineering, fluency in English, and familiarity with SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, Ram Connection and AutoCAD/BIM.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven knowledge of structural analysis and design for RC and steel.
• Familiarity with international standards (ASCE/AISC/ACI/IBC).

Responsabilidades

• Participate in structural design of buildings, including data centers, with models and reports.
• Design concrete and steel systems for high-load data center facilities.
• Ensure project goals, milestones, and budgets are met.
• Work independently with defined priorities and guidance as needed.
• Perform technical quality reviews and document project records.
• Act as Lead Verifier to confirm technical scope and client expectations.
• Coordinate with architects, geotechnical, piping, mechanical and electrical engineers.
• Communicate with clients to discuss scope and provide information.

Job Description

AECOM Enterprise Capabilities is seeking a Structural Engineer with demonstrated expertise in the structural design of buildings, with a strong emphasis on data center facilities or mission‑critical infrastructure, to join its Bogotá, Colombia office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Participate in the structural design of building in infrastructure projects, including data centers, through the development of mathematical models, required calculations, and the preparation of calculation reports and technical descriptions.
• Perform structural design for concrete and steel systems typically used in data centers, considering high load demands, vibration criteria, redundancy, and constructability requirements.
• Ensures that project technical goals/milestones/ budgets are met
• Works independently with latitude to determine work priorities and receives guidance on overall project objectives
• Performs technical quality reviews including documentation in project record in accordance with policies and procedures
• Serves as Lead Verifier on projects confirming that the technical approach satisfies the client scope of services and expectations
• Engages with project technical teams within field of expertise to confirm project approach and review deliverables
• Use client credibility gained from delivering high-quality technical services to expand work assignments
• Communicates with clients to discuss work scope, request information to support project execution, and receive client comments on draft work products
• Develops solutions to complex and challenging issues using standard methodologies as a basis and defining new procedures as needed
• Collaborate constructively with colleagues, external partners (e.g., architects, geotechnical, piping, mechanical, and electrical engineers), and clients to ensure high-quality project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with +6 years of relevant experience (YORE) or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Minimum of 6 years of proven technical experience in structural engineering, with a focus on the design of concrete and steel structures, in accordance with international standards and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Solid knowledge of structural analysis and design principles for reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Familiarity with ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC (AS applicable)
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, Ram Connection, IdeaStatica or similar, and AutoCAD. BIM experience is a plus.
• Advanced technical English.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in structural analysis and design of building structures (including data center facilities or mission‑critical infrastructure) and foundation systems, including shallow and deep foundations, mat foundations, piles, pile caps, etc.
• Experience performing technical reviews and quality assurance (QA/QC) of structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Experience evaluating alternative structural systems and providing recommendations based on constructability, cost, schedule, and risk.
• Experience supporting proposals, client meetings, and technical presentations.
• Experience identifying and mitigating technical risks throughout project execution.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
