General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Manager of Clinical Social Work to join our team!

This position is the Social Worker Manager for all Palliative Care Social Workers across MMG. In addition to covering routine social work duties, the manager will drive professional development for over 20 specialized Social Workers in Palliative Care. The role partners with site Medical Directors to ensure appropriate staffing and quality across multiple sites, manages value-based revenue from payor partnerships, and contributes to performance reviews. The manager also leads recruitment, retention, and skill development for the system's Palliative Care Social Workers.

Primary Duties

• Partner with site Medical Directors to lead professional development and quality assurance initiatives for systemwide social work programs, including CareFirst inpatient bundle, Advance Care Planning, and PATCH.
• Oversee recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management of social work staff; provide clinical supervision and promote staff engagement and retention.
• Conduct quality reviews to ensure compliance and productivity across value-based programs; analyze social work metrics for continuous improvement.
• Represent social work in systemwide initiatives, chair interdisciplinary workgroups, and support departmental coverage through caseload management, call rotation, and site visits.
• Lead professional development and education on high-risk populations, end-of-life care, and community resources; support research, teaching, and cross-coverage efforts.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree from an accredited School of Social Work (Required)
• 5-7 years of post-MSW clinical social work experience in a multidisciplinary, team-oriented medical setting; prior leadership experience preferred. Must obtain Maryland and DC supervision licenses within 90 days of hire (Required)

Licenses/Certifications

• LCSW-C Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical, current MD or DC license, upon hire (Required)
• Certification from the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ASCW), upon hire (Preferred)
• Willing to obtain MD or DC license within 230 days of hire (Required)

Additional Information

This position has a hiring range of $100,588 - $190,340.
