EPAM Systems in Colombia seeks a Lead TypeScript+Node.js Developer to drive a Backstage.io portal and software catalog. You will shape frontend/backend standards, mentor engineers, and coordinate with distributed teams to deliver scalable internal tooling.

The role covers architecting component structures, enabling Terraform execution, and integrating CI/CD with Jira and Jenkins. Strong TS/Node.js, cloud hosting, and English at B2+ are required.

Formación

• 5+ years of Node.js backend development.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript for production-grade services.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, web app hosting and deployment.
• Ability to work independently with distributed, cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
• English proficiency at B2+ level.

We are looking for a Lead TypeScript+Node.js Developer for an internal platform team delivering a Backstage.io portal and software catalog. You will shape standards, integrate ELK, JIRA Service Desk, and Jenkins/CICD into Backstage, and enable Terraform execution while working across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Define frontend architecture decisions, including component structure, state management, TypeScript standards, and performance
• Practice spec-driven development by starting each feature from a spec and keeping implementations traceable to it
• Lead technically by reviewing code, setting frontend standards, and mentoring other engineers
• Integrate ELK entities into the Backstage catalog
• Add Backstage extensions and templates and create render scripts
• Implement a capability to run Terraform scripts
• Connect JIRA Service Desk capabilities into Backstage
• Integrate Jenkins/CICD capabilities into Backstage
• Coordinate independently with distributed, cross-functional teams

Requirements

• Proven experience with 5+ years in Node.js backend development
• Deep expertise in TypeScript for production-grade services
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, web application hosting, and deployment
• Ability to work independently with distributed, cross-functional teams
• Practical proficiency with AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot or Claude Code, including Agents, Skills, MCP, and AI productivity workflows
• English proficiency at B2+ (Upper-Intermediate) level

Nice to have

• Working familiarity with GitHub Copilot AI-assisted development, including agents, skills, and MCP
• Experience with spec-driven development frameworks such as SpecKit or BMAD
• Exposure to developer portals, platform engineering, or internal tooling
• Knowledge of ELK Stack
• Familiarity with Backstage.io and Terraform
