SoftServe is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer/Tech Lead to build and evolve software solutions for a US-based healthcare insurance client. You will work with Python and Flask across the full lifecycle, owning technical decisions and improving engineering practices.

You will design scalable backend systems, collaborate with distributed teams, and contribute to data-driven features using PostgreSQL and cloud technologies. Strong English communication and leadership are required.

Formación

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Python software development.
• Advanced expertise in Python 3.x and Flask.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud environments.
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Testing, debugging, and unit testing proficiency.
• Ability to own technical decisions and lead initiatives.
• Strong communication for distributed teams and stakeholders.
• Exposure to Kafka or gRPC is a plus.

About The Role

In this role, you will build and evolve software solutions for a US-based healthcare insurance company as part of a mature, distributed engineering team. You will work primarily with Python and Flask across the full development lifecycle, from solution design and implementation to testing and production deployment, while taking ownership of technical decisions and contributing to engineering improvements.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend solutions using Python 3.x and Flask across the full software development lifecycle
• Own technical implementation and contribute to solution design, ensuring maintainable and reliable software delivery
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, designers, and client stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Analyze backlog items, estimate development efforts, and decompose features into actionable technical tasks
• Develop and maintain microservices, integrations, and data-driven functionality using PostgreSQL and relational database technologies
• Implement testing and debugging practices, including unit testing, to maintain software quality and reliability
• Contribute to CI/CD processes and support reliable deployments across AWS environments
• Drive technical improvements, proactively identify opportunities, and contribute to engineering practices and project processes

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Python software development
• Advanced expertise in Python 3.x and hands-on experience with Flask
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including practical experience with PostgreSQL
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-based development environments
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed software systems
• Practical experience with testing, debugging, and unit testing practices
• Proven ability to work autonomously, take ownership of technical decisions, and contribute at Senior Engineer or Tech Lead level
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with distributed teams and client stakeholders
• Exposure to Kafka, gRPC, or similar integration technologies as a plus
• Knowledge of React.js or experience supporting web and mobile applications as an advantage
• Experience with healthcare industry solutions or previous Tech Lead responsibilities as a plus
• Strong working proficiency in English for daily communication with international teams and stakeholders
