EPAM Systems is seeking a Java Developer in Colombia to join a global engineering team. You will build and maintain backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs, while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver scalable features.

The role emphasizes clean code, testing, and secure API development, with opportunities to work on cloud-enabled systems and modern tooling.

Formación

• 2+ years of practical Java experience with OOP.
• preserve apis and REST API design knowledge.
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Working knowledge of MySQL and ability to tune queries.
• Familiarity with design patterns and clean code.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization concepts.
• Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to interpret logs and monitor live systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork; English at least B2.

Responsabilidades

We're on the lookout for a Java Developer to become part of our team. A great fit for this role brings solid, practical expertise in Java backend engineering, along with familiarity in Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and relational database systems. We need someone comfortable working with minimal supervision, capable of getting up to speed on existing systems fast, weighing in on technical choices, and teaming up smoothly with a diverse engineering group.

Responsibilities

• Build, engineer, and sustain backend services written in Java
• Craft and improve REST APIs that power mobile app functionality and connect with outside systems
• Handle MySQL-related tasks such as structuring data models, writing and refining queries, and diagnosing issues
• Play a part in shaping and evolving backend and microservices architecture built for scale and long-term maintainability
• Write dependable, secure, thoroughly-tested code that adheres to sound engineering principles
• Track down and fix bugs, performance bottlenecks, and issues arising in live environments
• Take part in reviewing peers' code, joining technical conversations, providing estimates, and shaping solution designs
• Team up with mobile engineers, product-side stakeholders, quality assurance staff, and fellow backend developers to bring complete features to life
• Support efforts around automated testing, monitoring, logging practices, and general application dependability
• Make use of AI-powered development tools when useful to boost efficiency, elevate code standards, and streamline testing and troubleshooting

Requirements

• At least 2 years of practical experience working with Java and object-oriented programming concepts
• Solid grasp of how to design REST APIs along with knowledge of sound API development practices
• Background in building or working alongside microservices and systems spread across multiple nodes
• Working knowledge of MySQL, SQL syntax, structuring relational data, and tuning queries for performance
• Familiarity with core design principles, widely-used design patterns, and writing clean, maintainable code
• Exposure to writing unit and integration tests, plus comfort using contemporary testing frameworks
• Awareness of key security concepts including authentication, authorization, and building APIs securely
• Comfort with Git-driven workflows, continuous integration and deployment pipelines, and current delivery methodologies
• Skilled at diagnosing issues in live systems by interpreting logs, metrics, and other monitoring data
• Sharp analytical thinking and problem-solving capability, coupled with a sense of ownership over assigned work
• Solid interpersonal skills and the capacity to work well within a spread-out, multi-disciplinary team
• Strong English language command, at B2 level or above

Nice to have

• Background operating within cloud platforms to handle deployment, scaling, and upkeep of backend systems
• Comfort using AI-assisted tools to support tasks related to writing code, testing, and resolving technical problems
