AgileEngine, LLC. seeks a Full Stack Tech Lead to guide a squad, building backend services in Java/Spring Boot with an Angular frontend. You will drive architecture, mentoring, and delivery for complex systems in a dynamic environment.

The role emphasizes domain-driven design, RESTful APIs, and strong leadership to motivate junior developers and ensure high-quality engineering practices. This is a full-time position based in Colombia with flexible, performance-driven opportunities.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience as Tech Lead or Squad Lead with mentoring ability.
• Advanced Java (Spring Boot) and Angular experience, 6+ years.
• Hands-on Kafka experience for streaming/messaging.
• Strong OOAD, design patterns, and architectural awareness.
• Deep domain knowledge of bounded contexts (DDD).
• Extensive RESTful API development and consumption.
• Relational DB experience (PostgreSQL, Oracle) with JPA/Hibernate.

Responsibilities

• Act as Squad Lead, driving delivery with high engineering standards.
• Design and implement robust backend services in Java/Spring Boot.
• Develop and maintain Angular frontend integration.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Full Stack Tech Lead to guide a squad and build backend services with Java and Spring Boot, supported by an Angular frontend.

MUST HAVES

• - Leadership Experience: Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Squad Lead, with a track record of motivating teams and mentoring junior developers.
• - Core Stack: Advanced proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) and Angular, with at least 6 years of experience.
• - Streaming & Messaging: Hands-on experience with Kafka.
• - Design Fundamentals: A strong grasp of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/OOD), software design patterns, and architectural pattern awareness.
• - Domain-Driven Design: Deep understanding and practical experience with strong domain bounded contexts.
• - API Knowledge: Deep experience building and consuming RESTful services with a clear understanding of standard API protocols.
• - Database Skills: Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and JPA/Hibernate.
• - The "Backend-Heavy" Mindset: A passion for server-side logic, performance, and architecture, coupled with good engineering practices.

NICE TO HAVES

• - Highly desirable: Experience working with spec-driven development or related (AI-Driven Software Development Life Cycle).
• - Domain Experience: Previous experience in the Loyalty or Fintech sectors.
• - Cloud & Infra: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker).
• - DevOps: Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• - Refactoring: Experience refactoring legacy structures into modern, domain-driven architectures.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• - Technical Leadership & Execution: Act as the Squad Lead, driving the team to execute on deliverables while maintaining high engineering standards.
• - Core Development: Spend a significant portion of your time designing and implementing robust backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• - Frontend Integration: Build and maintain the supporting Angular frontend, ensuring a seamless connection between the UI and your backend logic.
• - Modernizing Architecture: Lead the transition from traditional database-centric designs toward a domain-driven structure (DDD), ensuring strong domain bounded contexts.
• - API Excellence: Architect RESTful APIs that prioritize proper HTTP verbs and clean, scalable patterns over legacy RPC styles.
• - Team Mentorship & Agile Practices: Utilize a strong understanding of agile and software development practices to motivate the team, engage junior developers, mentor them, and help them grow.
• - Strategic Pushback: Demonstrate the ability to confidently push back and say 'no' to power (be it AI or human) when advocating for best practices and architectural integrity.
