The International Trade Analyst role in Confidential Careers focuses on accurate and compliant processing of import and export operations for all businesses in Colombia, with daily validation and preventive controls.

You will coordinate with brokers, maintain ERP records, monitor KPIs, and ensure timely submission of documentation for audits, in line with Colombian customs rules and international trade requirements.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, International Business, Law, Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in International Trade operations, logistics and customs.
  • Knowledge of Colombian Customs Law, International Trade Rules, Incoterms and FTAs.

Responsabilidades

  • Ensure accurate and compliant execution of import and export operations in Colombia.
  • Prepare and review import/export documentation, licenses, and permits.
  • Validate customs documents, ensure consistency before broker submission.
  • Maintain International Trade databases and ERP records for imports/exports.
  • Coordinate shipments from origin to destination and track operational controls.
  • Identify data issues and communicate improvements to leadership.
  • Monitor brokers and freight forwarders against standards; ensure audit readiness.
  • Back up tasks regionally and train staff in FT practices.

The International Trade Analyst is an execution-focused role responsible for the accurate and compliant processing of import and export operations—including international logistics and customs—for all businesses in Colombia. The position performs daily technical validation and acts as the first level of preventive control. Additionally, the Analyst is responsible for monitoring processes with external parties and cross functional teams, maintaining control, entering information into systems, and ensuring that relevant data is kept up to date on a daily basis

This position delivers value through efficient and smooth less information flow, and by providing best quality service within the dynamics of international trade, in compliance with Customs requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure accurate and compliant execution of import and export operations in accordance with Colombian Custom Law and International Trade Rules.
  • Prepares and/or reviews import/export documentation, licenses, and permits
  • Performs validation of customs documentation (invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB, COs), ensuring consistency between documents, systems, prior to submission to the broker
  • Ensure approved documentation is shared with brokers and partners on time to enable clearance
  • Update and maintain International Trade databases and ERP records for imports and exports
  • Guarantee record keeping in accordance with local regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate, track and trace shipments from origin to destination and update import and export operational controls and tracking tools
  • Identify operational gaps or data issues and communicate them to internal leaders
  • Monitor the performance of Brokers, Freight forwarders, shipping companies against contractual or SOP standards.
  • Acts in accordance to AEO Standards, procedures and Policy
  • Review and submit monthly financial accruals (by email, system and/or ERP):
  • Freight and Broker invoices
  • Port related services
  • Duty payments
  • Cash flow updates
  • Collaborate with internal clients to ensure export and import fulfillment
  • Communicate with teams and external parties, to explain, advise on situations or procedures
  • Deliver on time and correctly the documentation required when an audit is carried out by an internal area or by a requirement of the Authority.
  • Capable of backing up specific tasks in the region and training employees in general FT practices and/procedures
Decision Authority & Risk
  • The International Trade Analyst serves as the first level of technical validation and preventive control through daily operational reviews.
  • Makes daily rutinary decisions and any deviation from standard operation should be escalated to its leader.
  • Analyses KPIs and contributes to making improvements in processes, procedures or system flow
  • The Analyst is not responsible for technical decisions or high-risk assessments.
Qualifications
  • Education requirements: Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, International Business, Law, Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in International Trade operations, logistics and customs
  • Practical knowledge of:
  • Colombian Customs Law and International Trade Rules
  • Non-Tariff Regulations and Restrictions (Certifications, licensing processes, etc)
  • Incoterms
  • FTAs
  • Imports and exports execution
  • Interaction with customs brokers and other related parties
  • Specific systems experience:
  • SAP
  • MS Office – Intermediate Excel. Power BI
  • Specific soft skills requirements:
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical capability
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple operational tasks
