The position offers an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional to join CHRISTUS Health’s finance team. As a key contributor in the accounting department, the role involves participating in general accounting functions and financial reporting services across the region and its affiliates. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing month-end close processes, performing reconciliations, and assisting with the preparation of work papers for annual audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; equivalent experience of four years in accounting may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • CPA certification and/or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of accounting experience, including financial statement preparation, general ledger management, month-end closing, account variance analysis, and audit preparation.
  • Experience with joint ventures, partnership accounting, and consolidations is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and electronic data processing systems.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other relevant software applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work proactively and effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience in healthcare accounting, particularly in physician practices or acute health care settings, is preferred, with at least five years in such environments being advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across the region and affiliates.
  • Perform account reconciliations and variance analyses to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, along with key financial indicators.
  • Support the preparation of work papers and documentation required for annual audits, liaising with auditors to ensure smooth audit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to tax filings and government reporting obligations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records, adhering to company policies and accounting standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting processes and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial data and provide insights for strategic decision-making.
